The Root Buster HD is the most efficient way to cut roots that I've ever seen! Some pretty nasty storms rolled through a couple months ago and knocked down a lot of trees in my yard leaving a ton of exposed roots. The Root Buster HD worked flawlessly cutting and removing the exposed roots. It made cleaning up a lot easier!

Swining an ax is un safe, it could glance off hidden rocks and hit a foot? The grubber takes the danger out of rooting small trees and brush... A solid took for your arsenal.

This thing definitely does the job of cutting roots. If you're not in decent shape this thing will help out with that. It cuts through the toughest roots, but you'll definitely know you were using it the next day. Best yard tool I've purchased in a long time.

It's a tough tool for a annoying job. It took less than a minute to put together. I immediately took out three roots that where sticking out of the ground. This will do the job and give you a good upper body work out. After any use tighten the screws that hold the blade. I will get some thread lock and see if this will help keep the screws tighten. Good Tool

The root buster was useful in clearing small brush from under large trees. While the product functioned as advertised, it was less effective than anticipated. We believe that the soft soil limited it effectiveness. When we used the tool it jammed the roots down, more than it cut them. This tool would have been more effective if the soil was not soft or damp. The harder the soil the more effective its cutting action.

In an effort to find a quick way to easily remove many saplings, I bought this product. I wasted my money. The slide hammer action does nothing more than make a lot of noise. I locked the slide to the shaft with the pin provided and did some root busting with well aimed plunges at the roots. This worked a little, but shovel/axe works just as well. I'll continue my search for the right tool.

I bought this to grub sage brush. In about 20 minutes, I found that it is the slowest way possible to find, and I bent the tube first thing. A shovel and an ax work much better, and you probably already have those on hand, and they are useful for other things. The Brush Grubber is not useful to grub brush, and I cannot think of anything it would be useful for, other than a real long tent stake.

arrived lacking all hardware but after reading other reviews of how the typically supplied bolts loosened frequently, I went to the hardware store and bought 3/8" grade 8, 1.5" bolts, nuts, washers, and lock washers. I had to enlarge the holes a bit, but no biggie. that problem was solved before it began. next, within the first couple of "whacks" it appears the entire product was designed backwards. the slide part, that you hang onto, is far too light to drive the heavier shaft through roots larger than 3/4" without simply bouncing back upon impact (picture trying to drive railroad spikes with a tack hammer). if they designed this product with a slide heavier than the shaft this tool would be unstoppable (like driving 8 penny nails with a framing hammer). lastly, this is where the review earns its 1 rating (only because "0" was not an option). within 15-20 minutes of using the tool for the first time, the weld broke at the upper end of the slide. inside the slide tube there is an 1.25" solid steel round bar 4" long that is just barely welded inside the top part of the slide. this tool lasted for no more than 100 "whacks" HOWEVER!!! despite the low rating, I would still recommend the tool to others because it actually works very well WITHOUT the slide. so well in fact that I was able to remove about 10 small stumps (maybe 3" alder stumps) in about the same amount of time it took me to remove 1 stump of the same size utilizing the slide hammer before it broke. if anyone wanted to take the time to drill and tap 4-6 holes through the slide tub and into the 4" solid round bar and then insert bolts to keep the solid steel inside the slide tube, then I am sure that would last. but I would still say you would be better off buying this tool and then throwing the slide part right into the recycling center upon delivery to your home.

A little more weight in my scrap metal barrel is all this thing is good for. Total disappointment is a gross understatement. I attempted to use it 3 times and as the previous review said a axe or shovel works much better.

the distance from the v of the cutter blade to the blade support is very small and you end up trying to force the wide support thru the root ,which doesn't work.
