I had been looking everywhere for an alarm clock for my 5 year old that had similar features to my 8 year old's. This clock had the features I wanted (it's pink, has an alarm, battery back up, and projector) and was less expensive than similar clocks. My daughter has been using it for several weeks now and it works as advertised. One function I wish it had was a timer or auto shut off for the projector as we sometimes forget to creep into her room and turn it off before we go to bed. I do like ability to change the scene projected on the wall or ceiling (it has 4 images) and that you can choose to display either the time, the image, or both; my 8 year old's clock projects a tiara with the time which she got bored with pretty quick. The other nice feature, especially for military families is the ability to display military time. I would however recommend it for an older child. My 5 year old can activate the snooze function but is not able to turn off the alarm herself. In fact, learning to work the alarm clock took some trial and error to figure out since the instructions are overly simple and do not adequately explain how to operate the alarm. Firstly, because both the time and alarm display allow you to set the date, if you want the alarm to go off everyday at the same time--DO NOT set the date on the alarm, otherwise you have to reprogram the alarm everyday. Setting the date on the time setting is OK and is a nice function when trying to teach calendar skills to a kindergartener. The second major problem is turning off the alarm--to set the alarm to go off you push the "Alarm Set" button then push the "Up" button once to turn on the alarm and a second time to turn on the snooze function. Indicator symbols appear next to the time to show that each is turned on. To turn the alarm off you have to push the "Alarm Set" button once to stop the noise, a second time to display the alarm setting, and then push the "Up" button until the alarm and snooze indicators no longer appear next to the time. You then have to push the "Time Set" button to return to the actual time display. If you only stop the noise without going thru the additional steps, it acts like Snooze and the alarm starts again in 10 minutes. This is not explained in the directions and took me a few attempts to figure out. Overall, it is a nice kid's clock and has more features than similar more expensive clocks, the instructions could be better written and more detailed and the alarm function could be much simpler. If you don't mind experimenting to figure out how to work it, I would buy it.
Great clock, but a little pricey. I got this for my 6 year old and the projection isn't as big as I had hoped, and the clock is smaller then appeared, but she loves it.
This clock was not worth the money. I am going to have to get my girls another one. The projection is very light and you can't get it right side up when trying to project it on a side wall. The face that you read is too light for you to even see the time unless you hold it just right. Not pleased at all with this product.
Well after having it for one day, the bulbs stopped working. I was unable to get a replacement since it can only be online.
I bought two of these alarm clocks for my girls for Christmas. The bulb burned out on one of the clocks the first day and then burned out on the second clock 5 days later. Both can no longer project images on the ceiling. If you want to use the alarm clock, you have to set the date on the alarm setting EVERY day or the alarm won't go off. One of the alarm clocks malfunctioned and kept alarming in the middle of the night. My daughter unplugged the clock but it continued to alarm. I had to search for a screwdriver at 3AM to remove the batteries so it would quit alarming. THIS IS A WASTE OF MONEY!! They are now in the garbage and I have to go spend more money on two new alarm clocks.
How do you stop the alarm. No matter what you hit, it sets snooze & the alarm continues to go off. I bought two for each of my sons - they like to projection on the ceiling, but setting the alarm is too complicated and we haven't even figured out how to stop the alarm short of unplugging the clock!
