Timex Mens Expedition Metal Field Watch, Brown Leather Strap

The outside diameter is 1.5 inches. My previous watch (Dakota) was so durable that I hadn't gone watch shopping since the turn of the century. So I was shocked to find the men's watch market is now flooded with oversized, extra-easy-to-read faces. Is that because of boomers who have presbyopia and don't want to wear their glasses, or is it the kids who prefer those? IMHO, huge faces look passable on a high-end watch, but in my price range they look clowny at best and pretentious at worst. After a lot of wasted time at the mall and window shopping I gave up and took a chance buying one online. So it was a relief to find this one was the size I guessed it would be based on the strap proportions in the picture. Another nice feature is the face that glows upon pressing the dial.

I looked for this watch specifically as I had already owned one in the past. I like the style. I wanted one I could see easily even at night this watch fits the bill. The numbers are clear not fancy, even the 24 hour numbers are easy to read. While it is listed as a mans watch I think it is more unisex. I am a frequent hand-washer and this watch stands up to being wet often. Even the band wears well under the stress I put a watch through. I only remove my watch to bathe so it gets a lot of wear. while the second hand is not a sweep type it is not so jumpy that you can not time a pulse with it- The only reason I am replacing my old one is that the person replacing the battery messed up the back and it no longer works right but this is after many years of service so I have no problem with the watch maker just will use a jeweler next time a watch needs a battery not a big box store employee.

Great little field watch that will survive being banged around. Looks good with some jeans.

It's a great watch for the money. I've been wanting a field watch for quite a while and I figured why not the Timex Expedition. Looks good, has a decent strap, and also has Indiglo so you can see the time in complete darkness? My only reason why I didn't give it a 5 star rating is because the description inaccurately described the case size as 39mm when it's actually smaller than that (37mm I believe, according to the Timex website). However, I'll be keeping it anyways since it still looks good and it's still very much worth the money.

I'm comparing this to another Timex Expedition watch I had. I think it was a good price, a good watch... just not as pretty as my old one. But I'll adjust!

When it arrived, it appeared to be used. The watch was running (who knows for how long so don't know how much battery is left) and the instructions were missing. Plus, we couldn't return it because those rules - must be in original packaging with instruction booklet. Don't need the instructions but just showed that it was obviously returned and not new.

Why was it delivered without the Timex box? Was it worn by someone before me?

I will be returning. The indigo light button sticks in the on position. Disappointing…..
