After buying the 60†with a single grapple which was an earlier model ( 3 year old). I’ve used it for everything you can think of I have not had a problem with it. I have put it to the ultimate test and it has not failed me yet. Will worth the money. A live saver
So after hooking it up to the loader and gotta to use it a couple of times to haul trees off that had fallen and that were in the way, the wife looked at me and said she had her doubts that I would have that much us for it she said it was money well spent. Have had zero problems with. It was missing a grease fit when I got it but I have fittings so that was no big deal for me. Have remove so pretty large trees and itâ€:tm:s hold up very well. Iâ€:tm:d all over again.
Mounted on a 460 loader on JD 4500 tractor without alteration. Picked an 18" by 6', hard maple log off the ground and transported easily (you'll need a counterweight for safety). Handled brush as expected. Fed hydraulics from the factory installed rear for the grapples. Standard ISO, quick connecPicked a 30 foot cherry for sawing blocks at waist height (back saving). Very pleased so far with this purchase. Had problem with FedEx delivery. Fortunately, I have a set of Titan pallet forks and was able to unload from the trailer that delivered the Grapple without a lift gate.
I use this grapple primarily for my small sawmill operation. Because of the weight of the logs, I wanted to minimize the weight of the grapple for maximum log lifting capacity. This has done a wonderful job. It would be nice to have a center tine to hold some of the unusual shaped logs, but that would add more weight. The grapple hydraulics aren't especially powerful with the one cylinder, but are adequate for retaining what ever is in the grapple solidly. I do have a little bit of trouble getting the grapple on as the alignment pins are about 1/8" too close together, but It can be forced on by pushing up against some thing with the tractor.
Overall quality is excellent and a value for the money. It took about ten days to arrive. The open top / side steel crate protected it fairly well. Arrived with a few scuff and bruises but nothing broken. The local delivery driver the shipper sent was experienced and professional. I tightened up all the fittings as others recommended. No leaks. I was a bit disappointed that the pivot pins for the grapple lids were just bolts and not greaseable pins. I'll be looking to upgrade them in the future. When I dropped my bucket off the JD 300 loader, the grapple fit perfectly - only needing a washer/shim on each pin to take up a little bit of curl slack. Overall I am very pleased with this unit and the time it saves me. My back says THANK YOU as well.
ordered 9/27, on fedx freight 9/29- in route from ca. to pa. tracked by computer and phone. arrived in Pa. 10/8 as projected, in perfect condition, on a 6 ft. pallet with an angle iron frame around the grapple. JD hooks and pins hooked up from loader arms to grapple- perfect fit first lift. 2 connectors on grapple hoses very large but standard equipment. my 3rd gen. kit was all JD quick connectors for plug and play. I went to a local store and bought 2 connectors that fit the grapple hoses and tractor connectors for $4 ea. the grapple works as good as it looks. I'm going to get lots of practice after I CUT DOWN 6 VERY LARGE DYING SUGAR MAPLE TREES !! this grapple is really a great addition to my JD ..STUFF
I use grapple for logging. It works good for picking up single logs, but not multiple smaller logs. I even was able to pick logs out of my trailer. The long lower tines allowed me to hand load a large quantity of smaller logs like I would with just a bucket.
I have it on my 3520 and love it. It works great. Bought this one to keep weight down for lifting big logs. Also works great for clearing brush piles. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is after using it a dozen or so times the grapple teeth bent inward. Gonna weld some thick plate steel on outside of teeth after I straighten them to make more rigid. Other than that awesome grapple.
Modified by adding 14’ hydraulic hoses was a breeze so it would work on my JD tractor. Fit the loader well. Good construction. Only 4 stars because 2 of the grease nipples fell out during the first couple days of use. Recommend checking all components to ensure they are installed correctly in addition to greasing all points.
Works with the quick attach for my 2038R JD although removing it is not as smooth as other equipment. Welds seem good and constructed from thick steel. Was nice that I could modify one plate and allow me to remove the hydraulics so it can live outside.
