Great for a do it yourselfer, easy to use and clean.
I've worked with HVLP sprayers in the past and was very disappointed with the amount of overspray those units gave off. This unit was awesome. The difference in the amount of overspray from HVLP to this airless unit is like night and day. I read the manual before starting which was very helpful. I loved the fact that it could retrieve the paint directly from the can rather than an attached reservoir. Overall I'm very impressed with this sprayer, it'll help me to get our entire new house painted in no time! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the ultimate sprayer, precise, no spills. Interior stains, exterior stains, polyurethane, covers and coats even with precision control. It could be possible to not have to tape off surroundings but I do just incase. This sprayer is also good for painting latex interior and exterior. This will be my preferred choice of sprayers for a professional looking job. Clean up is a breeze.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Controlmax 1700 has a nice long hose so moving the unit is not needed till most of the wall is finished. It paints very smoothly and cleanse up with ease. Even though there is more clean up than using a brush, it is plenty worth it over all for the time savings!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this sprayer in the dead of winter. So I won't get a real chance to put this to the test until the weather warms up. The 1700 looks to be a robust sprayer for the diyer and handyman. The 0.60 hp pump pushing 1500psi should handle most anything I want to spray. Clean up should be fairly quick and easy. Plus the replaceable fluid section and paint filter will to maximize the life of the sprayer. With this said I look forward to using this when I respray my fence this spring.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I upgraded from a Controlmax 1500 to 1700. The models are very similar with a couple of improvements on the 1700. The first thing I noticed right away is the weight of the 1700 is noticeably more. The metal frame/stand gives it some heft in a good way. With the 1500 I had to be very careful not to bump the sprayer or yank on the hose as it was fairly easy to tip over. The 1700 weight makes that less of a concern. Another improvement is the sprayer hose is a few feet longer. Finally, the spray gun is all aluminum rather than being part plastic like the 1500. I'm assuming this improves durability and makes cleaning the gun easier but functionally they seem to work the same. If I was buying them over again I'd get the 1700 just because it's more stable on it's feet than the 1500. Otherwise they're effectively the same. As with the 1500 I wish the 1700 came with some kind of bag to carry and store all the parts in but that's a minor gripe. Either unit will lay down some paint fast--especially when compared with the Wagner Flexio line. This sprayer is definitely intended for medium to large projects where you're going to be spraying multiple gallons of paint. Cleanup takes a while so this isn't something you break out to spray a quart of paint. I am generally using this to put down Zinsser Bullseye 123 primer and Sherwin Williams latex paints. Also definitely read the manual as the cleaning procedure involves quite a few steps.
I was worried about this when I bought it. It is a throw a way model. No company will repair it. Now, two years later, it still works like new. I painted two houses with it and it didn't miss a beat. It's very important to keep it very clean. I even polish every part when I am ready to store it. This is one of my better buys.
We purchased this unit to paint over graffiti throughout our trails and parks. As a nice compact, easy to use model it works very well for us. It fits easily in the back of a utility vehicle and feeds out of a one or five gallon bucket. The nozzle that came with it seems to have a good pattern with good coverage. Parts look to be easily replaceable. Clean out could be easier but overall works very well for us.
Works great for small jobs!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great sprayer for smaller outdoor jobs Gets the job done but I did have some trouble with keeping consistent spray pattern I thinned the paint a little bit and adjusted the pressure and that did help If I were going to tackle a highly detailed indoor project, I would prefer to use the 1900 model over this model I did not experience any leakage from hoses etc Would be nice if other tips came with the unit in addition to the 515- I used a roller for a few places here the paint had runs. Very little overspray as advertised A longer hose would have helped but I ended up raising the unit up a few feet off the ground to get the job done Cleaning is always a chore but using warm water did the trick
