You pay for quality and this radio delivers. Sounds very nice and the bass is not overpowering. The right speaker is the subwoofer and this a mono radio but what matters is how it sounds. For $600 is it worth it? For me a solid YES. I like the sound quality and the cream color adds to my satisfaction. Very happy with my purchase.
This thing smokes most "boomboxes" when it comes to bass output. No joke. Whoever put this together knew what they were doing. Everything about it is solid. Oh and the FM reception is very good, just like the old days. I'm a fan of the green color, but it's a glossy green so it makes the knobs a bit slippery. If you think that would bother you, try the flat black or flat blue version.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the 7th Tivoli product that I've owned over the past 25+ years (two PAL's, two original Songbooks, a Model 1 and an iYiYi). I love how this sounds, and I love the quality of the FM tuner. There are two things that I'd change: 1) The large tuning knob should be the volume knob, and the small volume knob should be the tuning knob. Since the presets largely eliminate the need for a tuning knob, you wind up with this big knob in the middle of the box that you never use. It sure would be fun to crank that up! And 2) Performance is enhanced significantly with better feet. I'm using Isoacoustics pucks, visible in the photo. The sound becomes cleaner, and the bass becomes tighter. Given the prodigious amount of bass that this thing is capable of, isolating it from whatever it's sitting on provides a significant upgrade. Thanks for another great product.
The best sound quality,,, super nice music system you really need to buy this Radio better the bosses
Great product. Very well built. I picked the green color. Incredible sound in a small package. I use mine on my back patio and it sounds great
Great sound and much more versatile with the FM capability
the Tivoli SongBook Max is a glorious, quirky, premium piece of audio gear. I delayed buying it for almost 2 years. Now that I own it, the question is why? Truth is - in the world of cheap, disposable consumer electronics, it's expensive. In the case of the SongBook Max, it's never been more true that “You get what you pay for”. The sound quality is outstanding. Powerful, clear, premium sound. Build quality is exemplary, and the aesthetics are gorgeous. It's physical art that you can listen to. I heard a quote years ago that I think perfectly sums up the SongBook Max - “When something is thoroughly well done, it often has the air of being a miracle”. A truly outstanding product that I'm overjoyed to own!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is its own sound different from the other high end Music System Home Gen 2. It "eschews" separation. It opts for density and brightness. That is its signature. Also, this power the MAX uses through which it achieves the brightness and density works at different volumes. That is cool. Finally, it gives a punch to recordings that are a little lackluster to begin with. It makes me enjoy these not so lossless recordings more. Thank you.
The user controls are very easy to use and rugged from the power switch onward. Excellent sound quality, though could use a touch more high frequency response, even with the tone controls set to highest. I haven't used the aux in for an instrument yet, but the capability of doing so makes it a nice package overall.
I haven't seen HiFi used in an ad for speakers in decades. My eyes saw HiFi and read WiFi so now I'm stuck with a Bluetooth speaker.
