I am a novice detailer with a need of a decent entry level polisher. I used this over the memorial day weekend spending roughly 10 hrs behind it with a total paint correction on my 08 Toyota Tacoma. I am completely impressed with the ease of use. The speed dial makes it easy to quickly transition from spreading product to polishing and getting down to business. This made my process of applying V34,V38,White Light,Butter Wet Wax a piece of cake.
It's my first DA so I can't compare to other brands. It runs smooth, well balanced and I really like the soft start feature. I have used quite a few angle grinders before and I've always liked the paddle switch type. I think that would be a great improvement to this DA. I would also recommend hearing protection. A couple of hours of this thing running may not be so good on the ear drum. I also bought the 3 inch backing plate and quite a few of the hex pads. The pads are very securely attached to the backing plate and clean up very easily with the C.G. pad cleaning solution. All C.G. compounds, polish and wax worked great and had a great scent.
My truck is 34 years old and it has never been clay barred or polished and has only ever been waxed at auto carwashes. I washed with citrus wash and gloss then used the heavy duty clay bar and then polished and the results from using the torq polisher is absolutely insane.
When I purchased this, I wanted to get great gear, without spending a lot of money in case I hated detailing. Well I didn't hate detailing and the product has been great. I am sure one day I graduate to the next level of gear, but the quality of the TORQX- BUF503X will last me plenty of years. My guess, is I will end up buying a new TORQ polisher in a few years and keeping this one on hand for my sons to learn and help me take excellent care of our cars, trucks, and motorcycles.
My wrangler is 10 years old now, always been well takin care of. It is white and I only ever hand polished it. Always washed, clayed and then waxed or sealed by hand. Decided to get back into a DA polisher and thought it was time for paint correction.... the chemical guys system did results that 10 years ago wasn't even possible. As long as you are patient and have a clue of what you are doing, you will be amazed by the results. It is a correction, not just a cover up. Thanks for the excellent products chemical guys!
I used this for the first time earlier today. I have to say I was a little anxious about using a polisher because I was afraid of screwing my paint up, but it came out better than I could have hoped for. I used VSS on the orange pad to polish, and Extreme Top Coat Carnauba Wax And Sealant In One on the blck pad to finish it off. The polishing step took a few hours, but I've never been able to wax a car so fast it only took about 10 minutes total. I wish I hadn't waited so long to purchase on of these.
Purchased this to do a paint correction on my 06 GMC Sierra, the truck is black and was starting to show it's age from the previous owner letting it sit outside. I used the 4 compounds that come with the Torq X kit because I had some spare time and let me just say the results are top notch. This wasn't my first time doing this, but an orbital polisher like this is certainly something any beginner can pick up and use with minimal pre-existing knowledge. There's virtually no chance of making your vehicle look worse than when you started with an orbital if you clay bar, decontaminate and take the necessary prep steps before using. I'm going to continue to use this to maintain the paint on my truck and my Z06 Corvette for many years to come.
I used this kit to compound and polish a black car with the products that came with it and it was a breeze! The pads are exactly what you need and the products worked wonders on the paint. I then used VSS to polish my wifes red car and it removed the swirls left behind by a carwash brush. Love this polisher and chemical guys products
Very happy with this purchase. I was doing some swirl mark and minor scratch correction on my 2009 challenger that has black metal flake paint. Washed and clayed the surface then used the orange pad with v36 and the white pad with v38. Didn't want to compound so I could preserve a bit more clear coat. Excellent results. No swirls and took out all minor scratches. The before and after is without any wax, glaze or sealant. Just washed and clayed on one side and polished on the other. I can see my metal flakes again!
I purchased the Torqx kit to use on a used car I purchased (2013 Audi). The car has all original paint, but has probably been improperly washed it's whole life. I followed the instructions from a few videos and achieved amazing results. I kept my approach conservative, I didn't want to risk cutting too much paint as a beginner. I do have a garage where I kept the car cool/dry/clean over the course of 3 days to get this done. I've heard that the paint on my car is "hard" and got a beautiful shine from the V32 heavy cut. I wasn't able to test out the V38 polish, but I don't think it would've made a significant improvement. The V32 was easy to use and did not get very dusty. I was able to work the compound for significant amount of time (this is safe). I had to wash the orange pad 4 times to complete the whole car (it's easy to tell when the pad needs to be cleaned, all I used was AP cleaner and warm water). Make sure to spin out the pad after it's washed, if you don't then water will sling everywhere. I would 100% recommend this to anyone what wanted to take the time to paint correct their own car, just be sure to follow preparation instructions (wash, clay & cool/shaded area) and you'll have great results.
