Total Recall (Blu-ray)

This DVD Blu ray is a lot better and more features,extras than the vhs one! Not to mention the only thing that looks worth anything on our new HDTV's! No VCR or DVD/VCR combo (talking VCR output only) looks like caca on a HiDef TV! That was the first horror of buying a HDTV! You will have to get rid of all your VHS collection of movies! And start all over again in DVD! The new remake of Total Recall is also excellent! You must have both and in Blu ray!

The movie is good and was the best of its time. It really got people's minds going on Mars and if there is a way to get an atmosphere over time back on Mars. I remember either a Time or Life magazine article and story where they showed how it could theoretically happen. As for the Blu-ray part there aren't many extras and the whole Blu-ray quality picture isn't there but it doesn't look like grainy 480 either but at this price why does it matter?

I think Total Recall is a very cool movie, because it's fun to watch and I'm also 19 years old. So don't think I can't watch Total Recall.

Total Recall on Blu-Ray what a great movie a real classic...but I was expecting more of that Blu-Ray clarity like these new movies that come out but I guess I can't really blame the movie it came out in the 90's so you get what you pay for I guess...

I have not seen the DVD of this motion picture, but I assume the quality is near this disc. It was still immensely entertaining. There are a few areas where you can tell the scene is stitched together, but it does not interfere with the experience. If you have this movie on DVD you probably do not need to upgrade. If you don't have it yet, which was my case, then you may as well drop $10 on the Blu-Ray version.

TOTAL RECALL has become a modern sci/fi-thriller classic and its Blu-ray rendition does a yeoman's job in promoting this reputation. The colors are crisp and the sound clear, however, much of the movie does not showcase the full capibilities of the Blu-ray format. The futuristic architecture on Earth and Mars is slick, souless, and bland - even the potentially magnificent Martian landscape becomes a muted blend of red mountains and plateau. Most of the interiors are also glossy and futuristic devoid of the textures that Blu-ray technology enhances so well. It is the close-ups of the main characters, the mutant visages, and the reactor scenes that utilize the Blu-ray format to its fullest extent. This Blu-ray version is definately a big step up from the standard DVD format but overall is not significantly better than a up-converted viewing. I still think this is an awesome film, but unless you're a perfectionist or Blu-ray elitist, an up-converted screening will give you sufficient enjoyment.
