This umbrella isn't heavy or uncomfortable to hold at all. It's as light weight as a good quality regular size umbrella. I use it to walk my dog in the rain and it's not any more difficult to hang on during a walk or picking up stuff than any other umbrella. I'm so glad I got it. I had an identical umbrella for several years and was very happy with it so I purchased another one just like it. Very happy with it!

These are the greatest, I've had several EXCEPT that the velcro tab always hangs down in front of you as you walk holding the contour of the grip correctly in your hand. It is really annoying and looks dopey. Sew the tab toward the back of the umbrella.

This is a great umbrella to be able to keep in the car or carry in the store with you to be able to cover 2 people comfortably when it rains.

I am a long time Totes fan and bought this expecting the same high quality I've always experienced. Perhaps this is a defective unit, but it does NOT open fully - I have to manually push the ribs all the way straight. And the release to collapse/close the umbrella is incredibly stiff. I can barely push hard enough, even using both hands. Not a happy customer at the moment.

I have always been satisfied with the totes product. That is why I got myself and my husband the umbrellas. I won't purchase them again due to the fact that they are difficult to close.
