Tranquility Brand Temperature Balancing Weighted Blanket with Washable Cover, 20 lbs

I was so excited to try this, for my 8 year old daughter. She suffers from anxiety, which seems to get worse, At night. She said, “this feels like I am sleeping on a rainbow, with unicorns.” It helps her fall asleep and helps her feel snug and secure. I can't recommend it, enough! Thanks, Walmart!

I always have trouble sleeping at night, because my legs tend to be very restless. I am dealing with a lot of swelling in my legs lately. When I go to bed I find myself moving my legs constantly due to discomfort in them. So, I decided to try the Tranquility Weighted Blanket. It is a fifteen pound blanket with a washable cover. When I am ready to wash it all I need to do is unzip the side and pull the weighted part out. Then I just throw the slip cover right in the washing machine. Then it gets put in the dryer on tumble dry. This blanket is a temperature balancing one. I used this blanket across my legs at night, and boy was I surprised. The weight of the blanket was like I was wearing my compression socks. It helped my legs with the discomfort feeling I deal with at night. I slept so much better with this blanket across my lower body. I really thought this blanket was not going to help me, but it did. The whole concept seems so bizarre, but it actually works. I sleep so much better at night with this blanket across me!

This transquility blanket is amazing? It is surprising how heavy it is. The rule of thumb when purchasing a transquility blanket is 10-12% of your body weight. When you first lay the blanket over you it does feel heavy, however, you welcome the even snug around your entire body. I did not think that I would like it at first, thinking that I would feel panicked of the weight on top of me. As a person that feels claustrophobic at times and have anxiety attacks, I would think that this would make me feel trapped. However, it did not. It was welcoming. The blanket is a twin size and perfect for one person. It is made well with quality fabric and a soft short blush on one side and smooth fabric on the other. The seams are nicely sewn with a small zipper so it is tucked inside the edge so it does not scrape against your skin. The cover is easily removable by just untying a few ties inside. These ties are around the edges inside to keep the weighted interior evenly distributed. This blanket is amazing! Looks like I will be buying more as everyone in my family wants to use it.

The tranquility weighted blanket is a wonderful idea! I am one of those people who likes to feel of the weight when I am sleeping. This blanket takes care of that without having 15 other ones on top! The blanket I have is 48 by 72 and has a removable cover which is nice. I didn't actually weigh the blanket but the package it came in says 15lbs. The cover is washable but not the blanket itself. The size of the blanket makes it convenient to remove from my bed and take to the living room when I want to Cozy up on the couch. It will also make it nice to pack up when I go camping and take with me where I won't need all those covers! I have a friend who works in a rehabilitation center and actually uses these blankets for therapy. They have a calming effect to them which makes you feel like you're being hugged. She told me about them and they really work at her facility. The contents of the blanket are glass beads and polyester fiber. The outer cover is 100% polyester. You could find something that size or make it yourself to cover the outer layer which I will do to help protect the contents a lot longer. The tranquility blanket would make a great gift for anyone in your family, it does really feel like a big hug and that in itself is rekaxing.

I selected a 12lb blanket to review but received the 15lb. Recommendations are that the weight should be around 7-10 percent of your body weight, and the size should be just big enough for one person to cocoon themselves in and not have extra hanging off the bed, because then you don't get all the weight on you. If you sleep with someone else, you should each have your own appropriate weight blanket. 48x72 is the size of a large throw. It is ample size for one adult. I'm 140lbs and feel that the 15lbs is a bit too heavy and would have preferred 12lbs. But my tiny friend slept under it one night when she stayed over, and she loved the weight, so it's personal preference too. I've been using it alone with a flat sheet on my bed because it's summer and I find it to be very warm. I have trouble falling asleep and this truly helps me fall asleep FAST. But I've been waking up early, which is not typical, so I think either the weight is too heavy for me, or I'm getting too hot under it in summer, or both. All materials are polyester and the heavy fill is fine glass beads that feel like sand through the blanket. The fill stays in place well because the blanket is quilted in 4in squares. You can't wash the blanket (spot clean only recommended), so it comes with an all gray duvet cover that is velour on one side and plain weave on the other, and finished beautifully with a hidden zipper- very nice detail! The cover machine washes and dries nicely. The blanket and cover tie together at the corners and middles, so they stay aligned well. This is from American Textile and made in China. Tranquility blanket is very high-quality and I highly recommend!

The description used for this blanket (tranquility), is extremely appropriate that's for sure. It's fifteen pounds of pure comfort and security! Its advertised as twelve pounds however, the packaging reads fifteen, which it definitely feels more like fifteen than twelve. My wife and I really enjoyed testing this out temporarily that is, because its still summer in our area of the world. Although we've have not washed it, this (Tranquility Weighted Blanket with Removable Cover, 12lb) appears to be well constructed using quality materials too. This blanket is only large enough to be used by one person, not two; so just keep that in mind when ordering. My wife folded the blanket in half, long ways, and draped it around my shoulders. I must say, it felt great! The weight of this blanket pushes down on your shoulders, and for me relieves that stress that most of us carry in that area of our body. We both love how relaxing it makes us feel, and there is no doubt it will keep us nice and toasty this winter and more than likely, its now going to be our go-to-blanket. Some highlights:  Relaxing and warm  Removable cover makes cleaning a breeze  Fifteen pounds of total serenity and comfort  Relieves tension in my shoulders when folded  Applies evenly distributed pressure throughout for that whole body coziness Walmart by the way, in my opinion, is much better than that other place that charges a membership fee, just to ship within 2 days (all the while their priming only revenue). Walmart ships within 2 days, and with no membership charges! I order online from Walmart all the time, so much nicer than standing in lines and loading-up carts.

This is great for a lot of conditions! My mom has restless legs syndrome and I had her try it while she was visiting. She said it really helped her a lot. I suffer from anxiety and I use it nightly to help me relax and sleep. It's very helpful! This would also be great for ADHD, ASD etc. It really helps relax and comfort you for a restful night's sleep. I like the removable cover. It is breathable so it doesn't cause you to overheat at night. You could also use this during the day for comforting pressure. It's the perfect size for one person. The pressure is like an embrace. It's very comforting and I highly recommend it to anyone with the aforementioned conditions. Very satisfied!

I am really writing two reviews here. First, let me say that the free sample I got was 15 lbs, not 12, so this is a review of the 15 lb. model. I did not like this product for my personal use. It made me feel confined, and the weight of it made my reflux act up. I threw it on the floor about 2:30 AM, and swore to write a bad review. BUT... I told my daughter-in-law about it and she jumped at it. She is a PA, and she told me all about its therapeutic benefits. She has wanted one for a long time, so I gave it to her. She loves it. It makes her feel safe and secure. (She is an army wife, and her my son is frequently gone for extended periods of time.) So there you have it. If you are a grumpy old man with claustrophobia and reflux, do not buy this. But if you are a regular person who could do with a comforting hug, get it.

I had never even heard of a weighted blanket until I was offered this one for review. This Tranquility Weighted Blanket is a generous 48” x72” size and has temperature balancing design technology. I presume that this is because of their use of glass beads and batting in the inner blanket and the 100% polyester outer cover. My blanket is 15 lbs. (not 12 as described) and is intended for adults who weigh more than 125 lbs. (or prefer a medium weight blanket) although I can't imagine using a heavier weight one. This medium weight one feels quite heavy and does apply a good deal of pressure. The application of pressure is intended to help people who have trouble sleeping, or those suffering from stress, anxiety, or ADHD. It is not intended for children, per the packaging information. I suffer from chronic pain related to an automobile accident many years ago. Honestly, I spent the first night mostly fighting with the blanket because (with the cover on) the inner blanket kept sliding to one end of the cover and I simply could not get it to function properly. Once I took the removable, washable cover off and just used the inner blanket, I could enjoy the application of pressure it provided. I think this blanket will be especially beneficial in the winter, because that is a particularly hard time of year for me and my pain intensifies greatly. The inner blanket is sewn into 5”x 5” squares (sort of a quilted design) and the glass beads and batting are contained within each of those individual squares. The inner blanket is not washable and cannot be dried. Overall, I do like this blanket and I think it will provide some relief for me, especially during those cold and difficult months.

This article is something that is sorely needed in this household. I have hesitated in buying one so was glad to have been able to review it through Spark Review. Previously I have even looked at online directions for sewing one myself, but never attempted to do so. I, being older, often have a hard time falling asleep. Family concerns, etc mulling around in my mind. My daughter who is 40 has an anxiety disorder and she also has trouble sleeping, waking earlier than necessary., and nightmares, etc. My granddaughter who is a young lady herself has disabilities that interfere with normal scheduling, and sensitivity is an issue also. We have all tried piling on extra quilts for a weight pressure, but forget that in the summer, especially. What we knew all along was that we needed a weight blanket. Whoever invented this one is truly a blessing. So nice to get a good night's sleep and even wake up without the usual aches and pains. Works well for my daughter and granddaughter. We are in Florida and in the middle of a very hot summer, and the material this blanket is made from, somehow, is not making any of us overheated. The only problem is now we need 2 more. We have been alternating nights with this one. This works and I am so very glad to say I would definitely recommend this, even if you don't have any obvious sleeping problems.
