I have used the original at my gym and felt it was too soft. This is my first roller and I like the firmness. After a double digit mile run, 15 minutes usage all over before bedtime help a lot for the next morning workout.

What can I say about the TriggerPoint GRID X Foam Roller? Soft but firm, portable sized, extremely effective, versatile, I could go on. Basically, if you're looking for an at home solution to all your post-workout muscle relaxing needs, or if you just like to voluntarily put yourself through some good old fashioned pain testing, then your search has ended here. I've starting using these after leg day and now I don't wake up feeling like someone ran over my lower body with a tractor. I'm no psychological expert, but I'm pretty sure using this foam roller regularly is directly linked to higher levels of happiness and satisfaction. I absolutely love my TriggerPoint GRID X Foam Roller. I'd categorize myself as a moderate runner - I recently completed my first half marathon and try to run 3-4x/week. As such, my body is often very very sore. The TriggerPoint GRID X Foam Roller has been super helpful in alleviating my back and leg pain. It's very versatile - you can use it on the side, front or back of your legs and can really apply as much or as little pressure as you see fit. Very easy to clean with either a paper towel or a Clorox wipe. Also its small size makes it perfect for an apartment or any small space. As a recreational weightlifter, I've been foam rolling for years and consequently need a pretty dense roller to satisfactorily get at the persistent knots I inflict on my self. I'm a big fan of using whatever's lying around for precision work -- a lacross ball, a pvc pipe, an elbow-- but I still think a good quality foam roller is a worthwhile investment. The varied surface area on rollers like this one is hard to emulate with random objects, and the cheap-o $12 rollers you can by are never dense enough. Shorter size is ideal for tiny Brooklyn apartments. Great product, highly recommend! I wrote this review as part of a contest.

I had been experiencing lower back pain but thanks to foam rolling using TriggerPoint Grid X foam roller, the problem is much better now. The high density material makes it really effective to get to your knots and really work on them. I would highly recommend it. I am writing this review as part of a competition.

From all the foam rollers I've tried, this is great at getting your knots out while giving you a good stretch. The additional firmness provides extra pressure, rolls smoothly and the grooves don't hurt! More expensive than I'd like but it does the job. Wish there was a full length version!
