As a network news cameraman I have found one universal axiom and that is vehicles the world over are 12v. 12v is the most commonly available power source and with the PowerVerter you can take full advantage of that availability. It this is a top notch device that can save your butt if you are in the broadcast video environment. I just bought two of these guys. They have a effective source of 375w which in this age of digital devices, is ample. I use LED lighting on my location video jobs and have used these guys to power up three LED panels off of one unit and an HD monitor and LiveU off the other while doing live shots for Good Morning America a month ago. A real life saver as we had no power source for the location of our live shots. Just keep the engine running and you have good safe reliable power. And when you are driving, you can plug in your laptop for uninterrupted power to download material while charging the computer. The PowerVereter is really well built and a "must have" for anybody in the broadcast industry.
We needed a power source for Christmas lights on a float for our town's annual Christmas electric lights parade. Not only did it easily power all of our LED lights, but it also powered a fairly large amplifier that we used to broadcast music along the parade route.
This inverter was purchased mainly for football tailgating use. After using it for the first time, I couldn't be more pleased. It served its purpose & did exactly what I needed it to do. I ran an LCD TV & Amazon FireStick off of it with no issues at all. The device stayed cool due to the built-in fan & I did not have to start up my vehicle to re-charge the battery, even after running it for 2+ hours.
I am a partial invalid and have to use a battery mobility scooter to get around in stores. Charging the battery is made much easier by using the inverter in my car so that any time I am traveling in my car the battery in my mobility scooter is being charged.
This is the only inverter my company will let us use, literally! I had a different one in my possession I had to get in an emergency out of town situation and at the next quarterly meeting they confiscated it and replaced it with the Tripp-Lite I now use. My bad!
I gave it five stars because it works extremely well. However, I would caution that if you are using it inside a car/suv that the cooling fan is noisy and can be heard over the normal volume of the vehicles audio system.
I use this product to run my daughter and wife's nebulizer while on the road or during power outages as we just experienced here in California. I have had one for years and decided to buy another for backup. It was stolen out of my vehicle so I am buying another. This product is a comfort to us knowing it has the power to run these nebulizer machines.
Product is very sturdy and works very well. I used it for about 2-3 hours with a laptop in the car and it did not overheat and worked great. There are so many different brands, but I really trust Tripp-lite to be a reliable brand building quality products. That is why I went with the Tripp-lite product here.
The first one I bought was destroyed by connecting it to a 3 wire outlet with a ground wire to vehicle frame. The unit has the ground on its receptacles floating for a Reason! If you introduce a ground, the unit blows 40 A fuse, and is destroyed. now the good part ... remove ground, install new unit, works PERFECTLY! I removed the switch, extended the switch wires 5 feet so the switch could be mounted on motorhome wall with unit in storage locker below... hear no noise! I would recommend this to a friend WITH the no grounding caution. I did remove the lighter plug and wire directly to battery connection, it starts my old Television on the first try ... 12 year old similar unit took 3 tries. Oh, Walmart had a VERY good price and free ship to store... EXCELLENT for travelers far from home! THANKS Walmart! :-)
I use this 4 times a week for meals in the car and running a laptop for homework. It is loud as the fan runs continuously but not any louder than my old one. I like this one as the wires are enclosed in the case. My other one had the wire terminals and it was a constant pain. It does have amp specs on it for your car's plugs that I didn't realize when I bought it but so far no issues with the two things I am running.
