Tripp Lite Protect It! 8-Outlet Surge Protector w/ Tel/Modem/Fax Protection

The 8 outlet surge protector is great! The long cord and the plug at a right angle helps to place furniture or items closer to the wall and the long cord allows the protector to go behind items to alleviate trip hazard and keeps the area looking neat. The large size protector with the 8 outlets allows those bulky plugs and straight plugs. This is just a handy and well designed protector! Would buy again!

This has been a terrific surge protector for my desk area. It can handle a lot of cords -- and the spacing between the receptacles allows for big plugs. I love the green light indicator for a quick visual. While I've [thankfully] never had a claim, Tripp Lite's registration process was quite professional and gives me confidence that they'll back their products.

This product works as expected, has additional, nice features in many respects, and has a fantastic-seeming warranty and coverage for surge damage. Hopefully I don't have a reason to make use of the surge protection coverage, but at 75k, it seems exceedingly generous and makes me want to buy a bunch more of these. The ability to slide closed individual outlets are a nice touch and the indicator lights are helpful. Keep up the great work, tripp!

Replaces 3 surge suppressor strips that supported a TV, a set top box (FIOS), a DVD player, a all-in-one computer, a printer, and a 2 Terabyte Stand alone backup disk. With "one unit" there is no guessing is it this strip, or one of the other two... This surge suppressor multi-outlet strip fit my need to a tee.

I have one of these at my home office desk, for my computer, printer, and additional monitor. My wife has the same. I have one at each end of the couch for the kids and their phones and computers. I have one on the living room tv, vcr/DVD player, cable box, sound bar, Xbox, play station, and wii. I also have one for the tv in my bed room and on each side of the bed. I use mine for phone , CPAP and machine. I have another for the sleep number bed with adjustable base.

I think this surge protector is amazing. In my use (on the floor, powering a desktop computer and 2 monitors), this product works great. My office's speakers have a very bulky wall transformer plug, which always blocked outlets on other power strips. With the three widely spaced plugs, I can plug iny speakers AND have leftover outlets. The cord is really long (almost too long, since I am right next to an outlet) and the built-in outlet covers/protected lights are a huge bonus for me. However, over the 3 months that I have had this surge protector, I have come across two downsides that may or may not be a deal breaker for some. 1. The power switch is exposed- I didn't think this would be an issue when I received this, but more than once, either myself or my canine companion have hit the switch, and all of my work is lost. If this is a significant issue for you, I would recommend either Tripp-Lite's Hospital Grade Isobar, or a UPS (Think: big battery that keeps stuff on). Not a huge deal, but I guess that I didn't look closely enough when I asked for this. 2. The surge protector heats up. I have only had the TLP-808 for about 3 months, but in that time, I have noticed that it consistently heats up under any load, light or heavy. Using an infrared thermometer, without any power, the bottom of the surge protector reads 72°F- room temperature. But when under load (just charging a laptop, about a 50W power draw) it heats up to a toasty 112°F. I don't know if this is normal, or if it is an issue with the MOVs inside, but protection seems to be fine. Protection: I really have no fancy audio or technical equipment that requires pure sine wave electricity, but to put it simply, I don't trust my home's electricity. I have had a number of power surges since I received this surge protector, and after each one, both LEDs are still lit. Bottom Line: if you are looking for a good surge protector for office equipment, definitely consider this one. It is a good buy. -Owen Sayre

Perfect solution for surge protection without a lot of other "fussy" things like antennas, etc. Very nice compact size. Best feature is on/off switch so it isn't drawing electricity constantly. The only con is description said switch covers for unused outlets but there were none.

It is being used to protect an office desktop machine as well as modem and printer. It meets UL specification and is reasonably priced. The warranty is exceptional and is one of the great features. The outlet spacing makes configuring plug ins easy whether cord or transformer. Diagnostic led's keep an eye on protection.

Regular outlets would be better if a little more widely spaced and/or could rotate to accommodate the somewhat wider USB power blocks side-by-side. Otherwise, works well, solidly built, easily walk mounted, and protects my land line phone and answering machine.
