Tripp Lite U215-004-R 4-Port USB 2.0 Printer Sharing Switch

The above USB sharing switch was the only switch I could find that would allow me to share our scanner between my wife and myself without having to manually switch it. Due to the position of everything I needed a switch that I could either operate with keystrokes or preferably with the mouse. This switch filled the bill admirably. It really is a brilliant device.

It works either manually (you use switches on the top) or you use a software. I originally thought that it switches automatically, you click "print" from either computer and it goes. For some reasons, I have to run it "as administrator". But it is a good value.

I have multiple computers/laptops-this is an easy way to network them to my one large printer/fax/copier........easy to install---love the product

this usb switch works great and I did not even install the software that came with it for years now my wife and I have been unpluging and Pluging in the usb cable to the printer on each of our computers now we dont need to this is great Frank

It does exactly what I want it to do, and things others might want it to do. I use a single monitor, keyboard, and mouse to control a number of very different computers and the varied connections makes a KVM switch impractical for me. Instead, I use this USB switch, an HDMI switch, and the monitor's existing connections to be able to swap between them. It works great. I just press the buttons to select which computer has the keyboard and mouse. Apparently you can also install some helper software to allow the computers to take control of the switch but I don't use that. The only con Is there seems to be a lot of light bleed between the indicator lights. May open it up to do some masking. That's minor. The big things are it works great for my purpose and seems sturdy and well-built.

The product does work as a printer sharing switch for me but the CD didn't work in either my Vista or XP machines so it is not as convenient as expected. The switch does do the switch between computers fine. I do consider the product adequate.

I have used several brands of USB switch. Most (using manual switches) have contact problems. Here, the electronic switching is solid. The problem is in the control. Why not just simple buttons on top to make the selection. Skip all the install and hot-key rigamarole. This device does not work at all without "installing" the software. And that seldom works.

Switch works only intermittently. I tried different positions, however this did not solve the problem. In the interest of getting my work done I was forced to abandon its use and go back to plugging and unplugging cables between my printer and the two computers that share it.
