George Strait, What can I say?

guil July 13, 2008

I think this is George's best Album to date. That is saying a truckload full because he has had so many great ones. Every song on this disk is great, especially "Troubadour". What more can be said? Thanks George for all the great music you have put out!

George Strait's 'Troubadour' =Classic Strait

Straitlady April 12, 2008

In an interview the week ‘Troubadour' was released duet partner Patty Loveless said “George is real,” and anything that's real, it stays around. His music: It just comes out there effortlessly.” That's a simple, honest statement about the longevity of a remarkable career of a man who is still on top of his game after 27 years in the business. Remarkable describes the continuing development of George Strait, who's written a personal history so unique he's creating new, record-breaking plateaus that have simply never been reached before, and most likely will never be reached again. I thought his last album “It Just Comes Natural” was the pinnacle, the best he had never done, and wondered what kind of album George would produce to follow that award winning album. I waited a year and a half and had faith that he would, again, step up to the challenge and give his listeners what they were craving – more Strait magic. Fans are blessed to be a part of this history making ride with George who is truly a Texas original. George Strait's ‘Troubadour' demonstrates why the singer is the very definition of country music. The album is filled with the classic country sound that has made Strait one of the genres brightest stars, and lets fans know he has no plans of fading. His voice has developed and matured into a smooth buttery baritone which works comfortably with his mastery of vocal interpretation. His is a natural country voice and style, he is the real deal. The 12-track album kicks off with the title song "Troubadour" (one of my favorites) – which is the perfect beginning and seems to sum up Strait's entire career in country music. “It Was Me,” “When You're In Love,” “House With No Doors,” and “River of Love” feature the classic Strait sound and fit comfortably into his catalog of music. With right-on tight vocals Strait and duet partner Patty Loveless pay tribute to country music icon Johnny Cash and his wife June Carter Cash with the bluesy “House of Cash.” George gets spiritual with “I saw God Today” and emotional with “If Heartaches Were Horses,” and the well written “Give Me More Time.” George lets his “honky-tonk” heart show with “Brothers of the Highway,” “West Texas Town” (a duet with Dean Dillon), and “Make Her Fall in Love with Me Song.” Without a doubt Strait is one of country music's greatest performers, in live concerts or on CD he never disappoints. ‘Troubadour' is filled with examples of what gives him the right to be called ‘King George.' This album is easy to recommend to any George Strait fan or to anyone who enjoys real country music. Screensaver pics attached, enjoy! Linda
