I really liked the colors, lots of options for blending and creating effects. The kit has great information for the user and it is just super easy to use.
I have used Tulip brand tie dye kits before and I've always had consistent results. This one is the Shark Island color palate which I think gives a great selection for those boys like mine who prefer a manlier color palate. Anyone can enjoy these colors though, of course. Some things that I noticed- I like to run my new white shirts through a rinse and spin cycle in my washer and leave damp to dye. I didn't throw two of them in so I just got them wet in the sink and rung them out. They apparently were too damp though because the dye is more muted and less pigmented on those two shirts than the other 3 that I did. They are still nice, just less bold. I let them sit each in their own plastic bag for a day before I put gloves back on, removed the bands and rinsed each of them individually and well. Then together I ran them all through a wash cycle with an extra rinse cycle and ran through the dryer. Another tip is to put gloves on before filling the bottles and shake really well, looking at the bottom to make sure you don't have any clumps at the bottom. I did this and there are still some brighter spots on the shirts where it must have needed mixed a bit more. It isn't a problem as it adds to their character but something to be aware of.
This was such a fun project to culminate the end of the school year with my children. I have never actually tie-dyed anything before, so this was such a fun project to do. The set comes with three pairs of gloves, although the gloves are very large, and if children will be helping you, you will want smaller gloves to fit their little hands! This also comes with lots of rubber bands, squeeze bottles with the powder dye inside, lids for bottles and instructions. Being a newbie at this, I was impressed with the instructions. They were very clear. I would recommend filling up the squeeze bottles outside instead of in the house. We came in the house to fill them up with water and shook them on the way out the door and ended up with little spots of dye on our hardwood floors. Thankful a white magic eraser sponge got the dye up quickly. My girls were a little disappointed in the colors. They were confused by the caps. The Colors made it look like there was going to be a pink and a yellow color. But if you actually pay attention to the box colors, the colors are actually different than what the lid colors are. You’re simply add in water to fill line, place lid back on bottle, shake bottle to mix up, and then apply to whatever you want to dye. We tried several different methods and we’re quite impressed with the way everything came out. You let item sit, we let ours sit overnight. Then wash outside until no more dye runs out of items anymore. Then bring inside and wash on hot and then dry. Such a fun project to do together highly recommend!
I have never tied dyed before, but now i have the bug because of this easy to use one step kit. The kit comes with all you need and ample amount of good bands. All is easy to understand. Comes with brochure and instructions. I did a thick pair of sweats and a night shirt and It used 3 bottles colors came out bright and beautiful . you will not go wrong when using this for beginners to expert i highly recommend
We started with washed 100% cotton shirts and left them damp while we folded and rubber banded each. Then we mixed the dye and applied. We placed each shirt in its own gallon sized Ziploc bag and set it out first in the sun until dark and then inside in the laundry room still in the baggies. The next morning we rinsed each banded shirt until the water ran clear, before soaking the shirts in a large bucket with several cups of white vinegar added to cold water. 30 minutes after the vinegar soak I washed the shirts in the machine on delicate with color safe detergent and they came out beautifully! We added no soda ash or other steps. I highly recommend this product! Attaching a photo collage of our shirts and tanks. :)
My family loves tie dye. So, I decided to try doing it for myself and got the Tulip one-step tie dye kit. I got the celestial set, because I love the colors in this set. This set comes with the following colors: black, Aegean sea (dark variation of blue), blue, royal blue, sky, purple, violet, and fuchsia. This Tulip tie dye kit is supposed to dye up to twelve projects. However, if you are dying something large it will use up a lot more of the dye. This Tulip kit also comes with six plastic gloves, which you want to make sure you are using. It also comes with thirty rubber bands and instructions. All I needed to do when I opened this kit was add water to the dye bottles, use the rubber bands in different areas of my tank top, squeeze the dye where you want to, let it set in for up to eight hours, and then the best part, unwrap it and see my masterpiece. This was so incredibly simple and fun. My girls all loved it. We will definitely be getting several of these to do during the summer so that the girls will have some personalized back to school wear. My fourteen-year-old wants to do a backpack. The possibilities are endless. Great product Tulip. Bravo.
Made a great family time activity along with another color set.
This kit is pretty messy but we had a lot of fun with it! The dye is in powder form, you just add water to it (there's a line on the bottle, so no measuring is a plus!) and shake until it's dissolved. There are diagrams explaining how to achieve different patterns/designs and I found that to be very helpful. The problems that occurred were with the dye was it was very messy. I had the lid screwed on as tight as I could and it still leaked when I shook it to mix the dye. Fortunately I was wearing gloves and outside so it wasn't too bad! So, keep that in mind. Overall, my family and I had a lot of fun with this kit.
This was a great simple kit to use. Purchased for my daughter's birthday party. It was not quite enough for 6 long sleeve shirts. The colors are gorgeous %26 all match so well together. Would definitely purchase again just didn't go as far as I'd hoped.
I got these for a king size sheet. I let the dye sit for 24 hours although it said it only needed to sit for 8. My sheet came out with spotty dye and basically still white. I used black, and every other color excluding two. The dye does not stay in cotton sheets
