I love that it is both right-handed and left-handed! It is serrated on both sides, which is really handy. The shape is particularly well designed for scooping, scrapping, leveling, and fine tuning an area that is stoney clay with lots of small tree %26 shrub roots. Tools that hold up to our stoney clay are hard to find so this dirty little digger is a dirty little Treasure! I like to use it two-handed, one hand on the handle the other hand guiding the metal - wear your garden gloves, it is sharp. Maintains shape and stays sharp for years. I'm still using the one I bought 5 years ago, it is still sharp and has maintained it's shape despite the hard workouts I give it every summer. I recently bought this second one just in case I loose the first. For the price it is well worth having a back-up. But use common sense, you can carefully use the tip for prying small stones, but tip will bend if you try to pry boulders or big or heavy or wedged stuff.

This is the best tool for planting flowers and vegetables. Scoops the right amount of dirt, and the edges digs right through old roots and mixes the dirt to nice loose dirt.
