I use these to give Prascend to my two with Cushings. Prascend is apparently very yucky, and they stop eating their grain when I don't put the tabs in anything. The Squeezy Buns work great. The only problem is when it's cold they get stiff, so I just shove the tabs into the outside and it works fine. Thanks, Uncle Jimmy!
My mare loves this treat - she'll practically climb in my pocket to get one. I love that they are individually wrapped, so I can put one in my pocket and it doesn't turn into a sticky/crumbly mess. They are pretty big, so I don't feel guilted into feeding her lots (which is good since she's the epitimy of 'easy keeper!) The only problem is that the crinkle of plastic now sets her into a treat frenzy!
My quarter horse LOVES his Squeezy Buns!! I honestly really love the crinkle of the wrapper, because he instantly becomes a Mexican dancing horse upon hearing it, haha! I am sure if he could speak, he would rave and rave about the taste. No horse has ever declined a Squeezy Bun from me. Beware if your horse is pushier about treats though--that wrapper is loud. ;)
My horse has always LOVED his treats and is used to a routine where he regularly gets them. So when his teeth became too worn down due to old age to chew/digest regular treats and carrots, I found these treats. They are PERFECT for his needs and he absolutely LOVES them. I'm so happy he can still have treats in his daily routine as he'd be so sad if he got cut off. We use them crumbled up over his smartpak supplements (it makes him eat all the supplements) and we use them as a pillpocket for his pervicox. They do break apart easily, but can stay in chunks if you'd like so you can use one treat several times. Couldn't be happier with these!
I have 3 horses, 2 draft crosses and a tb, all 3 love squeezy buns!! I use them as a special treat after a workout, and they just gobble them up!! The only thing I can see that is remotely bad about these is the price, which is a little expensive, but they are worth it!!
I bought this to stick pill pieces in to give medication to my horse. The treats were just barely soft enough to be able to push the pieces in and then "mold" it around the pill. The individual wrapping definitely helps keep them fresh.
The reason I only gave these four stars is that they are often advertised as being suitable for use as 'pill pockets' for horses. However, having tried to use them for that, they really don't work. They are too hard and are not very pliable. So I wouldn't buy them if that was your expectation. That said, I originally bought them as treats for my 31 y/o QH. He has never loved a treat like he loves these. He's always been iffy about treats, and is a picky guy. These he ADORES. He nickers expectantly and can't wait to have them. So, if you want a special treat for your horse, these are it. If you want something to hide pills in, this won't work. It's all in what you want them for. Overall, I am thrilled and have them on auto-ship. :)
I bought these treats to give occasional pills to my horse. He loves them and they have worked well so far in terms of the pills not being spit out or wasted. In the winter they froze solid, though, so they couldn't be used for pills. So I guess as pill delivery, they get 4 stars in warm weather and 1 star during winter. As a treat, they get 4 stars for being yummy, but 1 star deduction for environmental considerations with the individual wrappings.
These are kinda dry, maybe even stale--the horse likes them just fine...but if I'm comparing them to Stud Muffins...I'm disappointed. Stud Muffins are moist...you're able to hide pills in them and they just seem fresher. I wouldn't buy these again.
For the price I expected.. something better. At first my mini ate them.. . but then slowly that died away. I thought they would be good to use as pill pockets.. that was wrong. They just crumble away. I'm done with buying treats now I just make my own. My horse loves the homemade ones and it's way cheaper
