My gelding is stalled during the day so I bought this for him to beat the boredom. He is able to eat the whole thing in maybe 6 hours. :0 So he gets about one a week or he'd break the bank! Yes, his nose gets sticky, but I expected that. He gets so excited when he sees the new one coming.
I bought this as a replacement for my jolly ball toy. I know this is a Uncle Jimmy's product but my horses love the refills from this brand! I could not get them to touch the jolly ball brand refill, but with Uncle Jimmy's they play with the toy all the time.
My mare gets bored in her stall and starts to crib some, she is super picky and won't have anything to do with stuff hanging, she will walk away from it, but I bought Uncle Jimmy's Big Licky Refill and put it in a contraption I had bought and she loves it, she wouldn't let me unwrap it all the way and was already locking on it. I'm so relieved that she likes it and will continue to buy these. I got her the Mojo Molasses :-)
My horse hates LickIts but he loves these! The only con is that it does make his nose a little sticky but that doesn't really bother me because I can easily wash it off. He gets so excited when I hang a new one in his stall! Great boredom breaker for horses in stalls.
I still wish they lasted longer - but the horses just love them so much (even the sugar free ones) that unless they were 10 lbs each, it's just not possible to do so. The small licky things get eaten in a day and the hanging balls lasted nearly a week but made a mess all over their necks. This one is the best of both - love it. Thank you Uncle Jimmy (and SmartPak for carrying!)
My horse loves these! I put them in a treat holder, and hang it in his stall to keep him from getting bored. The only thing that I have noticed about these is that they do not seem to be as dense/hard as the hanging balls, so my horse can break off pieces more easily.
My horse loves these! Oh, the mess they create on his face, but it reminds me of a little kid after eating ice cream or birthday cake. Because they come well wrapped, they can be safely stored in the barn without attracting vermin. And they last much longer than one would expect at the lips of an enthusiastic horse. The refills are a great value.
My baby mare loves these so much- I bought the hanging kit and hang it on the side of her stall which prevents her from biting it- it just rolls so she is forced to lick it. It lasts about 10 days to 2 weeks this way. I've wised up and started getting the refills on auto ship. These are so great because the horses in my barn stay stalled during any inclement weather, so this treat alleviates a LOT of boredom. ONLY con to this product is that it's a bit pricey.
My horse adores the sugar-free version, but this product will definitely be used as more of a "treat" (put a new one in his stall but only once a month or so), because it is too expensive to keep buying new ones constantly. It takes him about a week and a half to go through one, but he is a "biter," not a "licker." I imagine that if you had a horse who didn't bite the product, it would last much longer.
My girl started going through her Licky's in under a week each, so I thought I'd give the no-sugar added a try. It made the intended difference - she doesn't plow through them with determination like she used to. Instead she only picks at it when she is actually bored! The new no-sugar treat is looking like it will last MUCH longer, but still serves as a more appealing chew target than the wood in her stall. Also, the no-sugar treat leaves a lot less sticky residue on her nose =P
