Unicorn Overlord (Nintendo Switch)

This is a strategy rpg akin to Ogre Battle 64. If that means little to you, this is an epic, army building, fantasy game. Walmart has the cheapest physical copies when in sale.

This a really crunchy game that fans of Ogre Battle or Advance Wars will really enjoy. It's a rts but can be paused, which makes it feel more like a turn based game. but eveyone acts at once, which is cool. It isnt Fire Embem, though. The story is fair, but UO is really about the battles and you spend a lot if time in your menu assembling characters into units and managing their equipment and commands. That's were UO shines, in the crunchy managing of your units. And it does it pretty darn well. If you enjoyed the Gambit battle system in FF, you'll enjoy UO's strategy macros for the characters. UO has a lot of of characters and classes, and it's fun to manage them all and then deploy them in battles. Vanillaware also has fun and dynamic character art and animations and are know for that aesthetic. The jiggle animations are welcome to me, just another asset that makes the art style come to life and even adds a little humor. If you liked how Dragon's Crown looked, and enjoy straegy games like Ogre Battle, you'll have a great time w Unicorn Overlord!

Unicorn Overlord is visually stunning and has plenty of content with interesting characters and diverse locations to explore through the story being told.
