I love this scanner, just as they say, enter the zip code and your good to go. If you want to listen to more just select more in services. I updated the database and firmware with the sentinel software which is really easy . Just update then write to the scanner. When you unplug from the scanner it updates itself and starts scanning. If you don't want to listen to something just hit the "avoid" button and it will skip it. However if you turn the scanner off and back on again you'll have to hit avoid again. I plan on getting the handheld also bcd436hp. So with that all being said, if its your hobby get yourself one you won't regret it.
Fast shipper. Very good scanner well worth the money so easy setup just put zip code in and a range of 20 miles upto 50 miles. I'm very happy.. I bought the whistler scanner 1065 and we even took it in to program it in and THEY would not do it so many steps to take and many problems, so I took that one back and got this one. WAY WAY BETTER ITS LIKE DAY AND NIGHT!! yes, I paid more but like I said Well worth it no headache from this one. very happy thank you !!
I been researching the price and Wal-Mart ɓy far had the best price. The price I paid was so much lower that I was able to get the extended warranty and still paid less than any other advertised price
Is a nice scanner I took it on a trip was fine I got the GPS accessory also. No problems whatsoever on my trip
Works fantastic in my truck. Make sure you get a good antenna.
Scanner reception is good as expected. Deduct points due to difficulty programming frequencies through software site and information screen difficult to see in car - issue probably resolved on second issue with new 200 scanner with colored screen. Overall mostly pleased, I'll figure out the programming issue.
The 536HP is a great scanner. It comes with Uniden's Sentinel software and every week you can go online and update the software. Unless you are super savy with these new type scanners, you will use the Sentinel software. The scanner does pretty much everything Uniden says and does it well. There is an exception, however. And I'll address that in a minute. You can get all the information you need at the radioreference.com website about the scanner. I use an Antennacraft all band scanner antenna mounted to my chimney. The antenna is about 25 feet off the ground. I got it from Amazon and it came with everything I needed except for the "F" female to BNC female adapter. Amazon has that too. I pick up agencies from 50+ miles away all the time. When propagation allows, I can hear agencies 200 miles away or more. Now the reason for only FOUR stars. The scanner is supposed to come with the Uniden software to allow you to use the wi-fi feature Uniden advertises. IT DOESN'T. At least not yet. Uniden has had difficulties with their vendor. You can read all about it at the radioreference.com forum. The scanner comes with the USB cable to hook to your computer so you can keep the Sentinel software up to date. If you want to use the computer in the "virtual mode", you will need a program such as ARC536Pro or Proscan (the one I use) AND you will need the correct cable to hook the scanner to your computer. That cable is a DB9 serial cable. If you are like me and do not have a serial port on your computer, here is the Serial DB9 to USB cable I got at Amazon. Here is a link to it: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008634VJY/ref=asc_df_B008634VJY3246569?smid=A3SKJE188CW5XG&tag=pgmp-473-100-20&linkCode=df0&creative=395109&creativeASIN=B008634VJY

The total experience with buying this product and finally receiving it was less than satisfactory. The product out of the box was defective. It was purchased through a 3rd party seller called I Save. The after purchase support was like pulling teeth. Finally, they agreed to take the item back. I sent it back. They claim they processed a refund on 6-1-2016. It's now 6-11-2016 and I still don't have the refund amount issued to my credit card!!
Ordered a new scanner; what I got was a used one in a box that wasn't packed securely-no padding around inside box. Nowhere on the site did it say "used" item, so either the seller switched used for new, or Walmart needs to clearly state the condition on their own site. They did send me a return label to ship it back to the seller, and according to the tracking info, it arrived there yesterday. Just waiting for my credit card to be refunded.
