I placed this order 4 days before xmas and received it 2 days before xmas and didn't even have to pay for expedited shipping so I thought that was a huge bonus! The product works great, we absolutely love it. The cost compared to other similar products or to other stores' pricing of the same product makes it even more worth it!
Great little scanner. Huge amount of channels, offers excellent reception. By far one of the best I have had. I am a "retired" volunteer firefighter, I still like to listen to local fire traffic and keep aware of the current situation in my area. Walmart offers a great price, too. Works well with Nimh rechargeable batteries. Has enough channels for home area frequencies as well as frequencies for departments around my fishing camp at the lake. These days the news only covers politics and COVID, with a scanner you can get the real picture of what is really happening in your home area.
I just wanted a scanner to monitor air, rail, and catch other UHF/VHF signals. Works great. My only negative is that it seems to really eat the batteries! Walmart had the cheapest price I could find and no cost for shipping when picked up at the store.
Over the years I have owned many scanners. By far this is the best. Easy to program/operate. Good quality construction. Good reception range. Good audio. It consumes batteries fast. Be sure an use good quality rechargeable nmhi batt. I use Sanyo 2700 mah they last the longest.
I had a previous similar model, (BC92XLT) which broke, and I had hoped they had improved the control process. They have not. Even knowing the basics of operation of the similar model I owned, this one is very confusing. Plus I do not believe it scans ALL 99 of the railroad channels, and I can't figure out which ones it DOES scan. I bought it specifically because of the claim that it scanned the railroad band, and am disappointed.
I have still to figure this one out. I thought this was one I could put codes in manually. But I'm having a friend help me out. might have to send this back.
I bought this scanner for a NASCAR Race. I read the reviews for setting up the channels and heard it was complicated. However, being computer literate and familar with the technology, I did not think I would have a problem. Once the scanner arrived, I placed batteries in it and hooked it up to the CPU assuming the computer would automatically dectect the USB connection. No such luck. I downloaded the driver from their website, still no such luck. I did this on my work labtop and my personal Dell... I tired it the third time on a HP and it worked. The software allowed me to copy and paste the frequencies on the channel I wanted (the drivers number) and it worked great at the track. In summary, they need to fix the driver issue and the batteries only lasted two races.
Have not got it programed as its so hard and no way to get call numbers as in the past. will not suggest it to anyone. i was so excited !!
This Uniden BC75XLT will receive only three of seventeen fire, police, & sheriff channels from towns in my area. I purchased this unit to obtain warnings of possible approaching severe storms from units out spotting such. I do not feel at all confident that I will be alerted if our lives are in danger. Do NOT purchase this dud of a handheld scanner!
Too much static. When listening to the radio calls, every 2 to 3 seconds it would cut in and out. Can understand only 2 or 3 words at a time.
