USB TO SATA EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE (U339-000) (0037332175588) (TRIPP LITE)

I bought this to try to regain access to a couple of external hard disk drives, a 40 GB with no power cord to the enclosure and a 2 TB that my computer could not talk to. I first tried the 40 GB drive: the computer recognized the drive and even recognized the make and model, but said the drive was inaccessible. I talked to Tripplite tech support for about a half hour, with no resolution (I found that the drive itself is probably at fault). Then I tried the 2 TB drive: SUCCESS!!. I am very pleased with this product.

works as described. this has been hooked up to my laptop and wipeing old harddrives since i bought it and hasnt had any issues

Easy connection to PC using USB, just plug in your hard drive and it shows up as an external drive. Really could not be simpler.

At the moment I am copying a 2TB drive using USB3.0 - what a difference! The last time I copied the same drive using my old USB2.0 hard drive dock it took over 2 days. Windows is predicting completion in 10 hours with this dock. And this dock is so much better than my old one - it leaves much more of the drive exposed for drive cooling, yet it feel very solid. My old dock was always tricky for lining up the drive, this one was slide in and click! I have a lot of different Tripp-lite products and cables and have always found them to be well designed and worth the extra $ over the cheap junk options. This sleek HDD dock is nicely made and very attractive.

This makes docking drives super convenient. The rubber feet on the bottom keep it from moving around the desk. Good data speeds too.

Great quick way to get access to a drive without needing to install it in a machine.

This is an attractive unit, and when it works it does a nice job. However, getting that darn blue power light to go on AND STAY ON is really problematic. I try to get just the right pressure - and leave it alone. Wish the power management were better. If it were - I'd give this little unit a 5!
