V28 Post Mount Gate Latch - Black

The product works well for a post mounted gate latch and the supplier delivered it very quickly. I am happy with this purchase which was a replacement after many years or wear and tear supporting a heavy iron gate for a driveway.

I just purchased this product in August 2026 and the latch bolt is solid, not hollow, so it looks like the manufacturer responded to all the 1 star reviews. I did loose my spring and I am looking for a replacement (no fault of the manufacturer)

items are as described. I purchased this to replace the gate latch on a previous lock. Hopefully, this will be more resilient than the other brand i purchased.

Bottom line: I DO NOT recommend this product at all. Same exact review as others. The gate latch bar is hollow and will bend/break within a week or so of installing. The picture they show is outright dishonest because it shows a solid latch bar but it is actually hollow and it will fail. I came home to a swinging open gate. Thankfully we keep our pets inside while we are not home AND very lucky that no kids got into my back yard and drowned in our pool. When properly mounted per instructions but fails like this, it is putting consumers at major risk.

The aesthetic is great and the latch is fine, but as many others have said, the bolt breaks from use and wind. Unfortunately, we bought two of these and wasted our money. Find something else.

I build fences for a living and used to use these post-mount latches all the time. But since they've went cheap and started making the latch mechanism out of thinner material and the striker out of thin hollow piece of pipe I will not install these anymore. It won't even function like it's supposed to, it will just bend the first time the gate is closed. There's no way to put a warranty on your work using this product anymore. Furthermore there was no change in package design or price on the shelf, I was just completely blindsided and left hanging with a junk product that had to be uninstalled the same day it was installed. Obviously they take no pride in there products anymore.

I own a fence company. We use these on all our fences. The post used to be solid. Now it is hollow and bends every time the gate closes. I have to make my own posts for each latch. Bad quality decision.

I have two of these latches on my fence and I really like the latch, it is robust and smooth, however the bolt is hollow and has a weak point where it goes flat to be screwed into the gate. If the gate blows shut or is not carefully and gently closed, the bolt easily bends and breaks. The bolt should be solid. Otherwise a brace should be sold with this latch to secure the thick part of the bolt against the gate. I wanted to give it more stars...

old style was the best, the new style is junk .I can bend with my hand .I Have used the old style for 20 years the best .I am a fence contractor in Wilmington nc ALL-SCREWS FENCE &DECK. Please return the old style !!!!
