Wow! What a Steak!

Artful January 9, 2013

Further to yesterday's review, I just wanted y'all to know that my wife said our first steak off the new grill last night was the best she'd had in years. I did it about 2 minutes on each side on the searing burner and then finished it on the regular burner. The surface was slightly crispy and the inside was moist and tender. I'm attaching a photo showing the beautiful LED lit control panel, which I took while cooking.

Reviews are Deceiving

GrillingNchillin July 20, 2013

Was at local Sams Club and this grill had been reduced in price. There was no display to look at and had to depend on pictures and labeling on box to make my decision. I also went to Sams.com on my smartphone to read the reviews on the grill and was not impressed as some of the reviews were pretty bad. I decided to buy the grill despite bad reviews and roll the dice. First off the box claimed the grill was 90% assembled I would say more like 70% and it does take a little work to assemble the grill. Assembly was'nt too tough if youh have a helper and are at least a little mechanically inclined.(Took Approx. 20 minutes.# One of the biggest complaints in previous reviews had been the grill did not heat up, this had me concerned After the grill was together I fired it up on high to both test the heating time and burn off paint, chemicals ect.. The grill heated up very quick in my opinion within 5 mins it reached 300 degrees and at 12 mins it was at 600 degrees. Cooked hot dogs and hamburgers the first night and the grill performed as expected. Since then I have cooked Baby back ribs #grill maintained 200 degrees for4 1/2 hours without any problems and the ribs were on the money.) , I have also grilled steaks using the searing grill and although this feature was not a huge selling point for me I am glad it has this as it does sear meat and help keep juices in while finishing it on the main grill. Chickem breast and wings cooked great using the burners to adjust cooking temp at both ends of the grilling area. This grill for the price I paid is an excellent value and it seems to be well built and I have no problems reaching and maintaining cooking temperatures. The cooking grates are stainless wrapped and hopefully will hold up, the rest of the grill is built using decent quality material and appears better than most "cheaper grills" , the included cover is nice and should help keep the grill in good condition. This grill is by no means as well built as higher quality grill that cost 2-3 times the price but for other grills in the same price range I think it is decent. It is not a Weber but it also is not the price of a Weber. Overall Happy with this grill and would reccomend it to anyone looking for a decent grill that leaves some cash in your pocket to buy some meat to cook.

Great Grill

BeachLiving August 11, 2013

I bought this grill back in April 2013 and have not looked back since. I prefer charcoal, but my wife convinced me to purchase a gas grill for time and safety reasons(We have a young daughter). Grilling is a family event, as we grill out at least three times a week. I have not been disappointed. The grill heats up quickly and stays hot. I typically only have to use three of the burners to prepare chicken, steaks, fish, and pork. I bought this grill primarily for the stainless steel grates, the weight of the hood, and the overall feel of the grill. It wasn't flimsy and feels solid. The lighted panel looks nice and is helpful when cooking in low light. It looks great, cleans up easy, and I think will provide our family years of enjoyment.

great grill for the price!

mbusster March 2, 2013

Bought this grill specifically for the stainless steel grates and the searing component. Looked at others that were twice the price an din't have all of the features of this grill. Had it for about a month and works great, cooks hot, and is an easy clean up.

Good Grill

MRISH June 3, 2013

I have used this grill twice now, it was pretty easy to assemble. It heats up very fast and cooks evenly. The infrared burner sears meat very well. My chicken wings were very crispy. It also made the fat on my steaks crunchy and flavorful. I compared other grills in this price range at Lowe's and HDepot but they didnt come with a cover and I figure that's another $50.00.

Read reviews then purchased this grill 7/23/13 and used it the next night. Great value and very happy with fit, finish, features and performance. Only item unhappy about was 3 stickers on the cabinet and shelf, first peeled off, 2nd used winded with ammonia and took off next layer, finally used WD40 to get rest of residual off. Took as long to get the stickers off as it did to put together. Overall very happy.

No way above 3 of 5 stars

Nice looking grill, lots of compliments until you're hungry crowd says "Where's the beef?" I've owned many BBQ grills over the years big and small, including a huge Coleman 7700 series. Sadly we had to give it up when we moved. This MM 30" was very attractive however I was sold on the features and size of the grill for the price. After owning the product 16 months I can provide you with 2 main reasons not to purchase. 1) Due to the large multiple vent slots (I think there's twice as many), it does not reach high enough temperatures even with all four burners on high. Food takes longer cook than normal. 2) There are several areas on the enamel that have flaked off and started to rust. My other concern is where some of the factory pre-drilled holes are rusting and this it what holds the grill pieces together. Structurally speaking, I don't think this grill will make it in the long run but then again, not bad for $400. I live in the Sacramento Valley with BBQ weather in upper 30's in winter and 100+ in the summer. If you live on the coast or subjected to a marine environment, you may get 2 or 3 years before rust takes over, including the low quality stainless. Mine is actually holding up well but the included black protective cover won't last another season. The magnet test: Unlike my NSF restaurant grade stainless work station this Member's Mark 30" Grill is made with a lower grade material and is more magnetic. Typically high food grade stainless is less magnetic, contains more nickle which increases resistance to corrosion. Clean up: I do like the larger sized cooking grates. They clean up fairly easy too. Assembly: From the item details section: "This grill is 90% preassembled to allow the member to start cooking within 30 minutes" It took 30 minutes just to unpack a sort all the part and hardware! Another 90 minutes to assemble with the sides taking longer than normal as the factory pre-drilled holes "did not" line up perfectly. One more note, this grill needs to be plugged into a 120v outlet for the lights to work. Igniter uses a standard 9v battery which (BTW) works very well.

You get what you pay for

BenZ March 26, 2013

I bought this because it was a lot of grill for the money. I also added the natural gas kit. I use my grill 3-4 times a week about 6 months of the year, and although it initially worked well it is now 2 years old and not holding up well. I figure I'll get about another year out of it. First to go were the searing grill grates. The metal began to splinter. Now the main cooking grates are going and the lower flame control grates are rusting away. Although it is a good price I did hope for at least five years out of it. I do keep it covered though the original cover only lasted a few months.

Worst Purchase Ever

m1973h March 7, 2013

Temperture contorl is horrible. Hard to grill when you can not keep the temperature high enough. The grill is nice to look at, and has held up well. Wish I would have paid to replace the insides of my old grill, but I thought spending $75 more for a new grill was a better deal, this grill proved me wrong!

Don't buy this grill

Unhappy74 April 27, 2013

This grill is nice to look at. Bought it mainly ease if the searing burner. The grill does not heat enough. Takes forever to cook three chicken breast and made them hard and dry. After trying it for a month we decided to take it back to Sam's Club. Thank God for their return policies. Kudos to SAMs for taking it back no questions asked. The only good thing about this grill is the price and it looks nice.
