I've tried a lot of products and this one comes out on top. It goes on well, shaves smoothly with a good razor, and "revives" a bit when you wet an area for touch ups. It seems less wasteful than foams in cans -- which often create a lot of foam, but not much lubricating staying power. Tip: when the tube is near empty just unscrew the cap each time you use it to get the last little bit from the tube.

This is the best priced and easily accessible shave butter product out there. I and my three adult sons all use this shave butter as our go to first choice. Perfect easy lather. Not too thick and not too thin… just right. It had a smooth and light creamy foam feel on the skin. Works great with our Harry's razors.

Van der Hagen Shave Butter works better than basic shave cream. The razor glides much smoother with shave butter. I get a close shave with very few nicks.

I rated satisfaction and quality neutral because I have not used the product yet. You really should give the customer more time to try a product before asking their opinion.

I've been using DSC shave butter for over five years, but I thought I'd try out a cheaper competitor. This Van der Hagen shave butter has a pungent aroma and makes my face burn as soon as I apply it. (As far as I know, I have no allergies or skin sensitivities, and the tube I purchased says "original formula," so this is just how the product is.) The resulting shave is not very smooth, and my face has had more red areas since using it. Also, the shave butter is white compared to DSC's clear butter, which means reduced visibility if shaving in front of a mirror, and you have to be more thorough with cleanup unless you want people to see cream in your ears. Spend a couple extra bucks and buy the DSC shave butter instead! I love that stuff.

I've been using this shaving cream for years and I think they changed their formula because it BURNS my skin now. My skin gets irritated and red when I use it.

My regular shave product was not available and I thought I would get wild try something different. It was horrible. I found the smell pungent and medicinal. Like 'disturb my appetite' bad. I had to go back and wash my face with my scented shower soap. On top of that, it stung my face and it had zero value as a shave lubricant. It was not slippery at all, like trying to shave with only water. I have had smoother shaves rubbing complimentary hotel soap bars on my face. I know I sound whiny and dramatic but this stuff did not agree with me at all.

WARNING: There was apparently a recent ingredient change. This stuff BURNS. It used to be really good but now when you put it on it feels like your face is on fire. Extremely irritating to the skin. Something went wrong here and I've emailed them but if you check reviews elsewhere you will see people having the same issue.

Immediate burning sensation makes this unusable and I'm a big fan of cream/tube shaving creams for both travel and everyday. I think it's the type or amount of alcohol causing this issue. I never had this reaction from other brands, I've also used this brand in another form (brush shaving cream that looks like a hockey puck) and don't recall this issue.

Probably the worst thing I've put on my face. 1. This thing burns, if you have sensative skin you will FEEl It. 2. The cherry smell, reminds me of rubitusin.
