Van Ness Pureness Enclosed Sifting Cat Litter Pan

This sifting litter box works perfectly if you DON'T follow the directions. The directions say to put the sifter on top of the two pans so the sifter will get covered with wet pee and poop making it impossible to keep it from getting clogged and gross. The reviews I read said this was a problem. Why does this happen? Because the directions are wrong. If you ignore the directions and put the sifter in the middle of the two pans then you will lift up the top full pan and pour it into the sifter sitting in the empty bottom pan. Them you will sift the litter into the empty bottom pan and then empty the sifter pan into the garbage. Then put the sifter in the now empty top pan and the full clean pan then goes on top. The one thing I don't like about the pan is the door. It is flimsy and doesn't stay on. Other than that it is worth it.

This is a very good litter box. It makes cleaning a breeze. It has the sifter and two outer boxes which stack on each other, making it easy to transfer litter and sifter from one box to the other. Some of the areas of the sifter and boxes could be stronger, but the ease of cleaning makes it worth it. Just handle with care. I would recommend to family and friends!

We've been using this box for about six months now and it's perfect. We adopted some more cats and had to order another. It's so quick and easy to clean, I can clean both boxes in less than two minutes. I have found that the regular clay litter with some Arm and Hammer freshener works better than the clumping litter. The clumping type can get suck in the grates. Another trick to so keep plenty of litter in the box - a good 4-5 inches.

I bought two of these. One for each cat. At first I was worried they wouldn't use a covered litter box but so far they love them. Some people have complained about the flap but it is easily removed. I removed them on both boxes because my cats are a little on the large side and I thought it would be easier for them to get into the box without the flap. I use a clumping litter and have had absolutely no problems using it in these boxes. It sifts both urine and feces. They are very easy to use and to clean. One positive thing I've noticed is I don't have as much litter tracked outside the box as I did when I just used a regular litter pan. Also, since I'm sifting the litter, I'm not using nearly as much of it as I did before. They're very sturdy and, like I said before, very easy to use and clean. Both of my boxes arrived in perfect condition. Another bonus is, these boxes are much cheaper online than they are in the store.

This is a nice "Sifting" litter box however Walmart sent me one with one of the trays missing. I have to go ahead and use it because we have a new kitten and she has to have a litter box. They need to send me a replacement so I can use it with the sifting option. It has the sifter tray but not the tray that goes under it. BUMMER! OTHERWISE I would rate it with 5 stars. Walmart messed up my order.

Be advised: if you are using this for pine pellet cat litter the spaces between the filter pan are wide enough to let the pellets pass through. I'm going to have to see how this plays out since I just got it and I haven't filled it yet, but I'm afraid I'll lose pellets when I shake the try down to remove the peed on portion. We shall see.

We just purchased this, in store, for our male cat. (almost a year old) He wasn't fond of the door (which isn't transparent like the information online. You can see through it,but it's not 'clear') We removed the door, easily. He hasn't used it yet, but I do not see it being an issue for him. *USE NON CLUMPING LITTER*, like others have mentioned. It makes sense as to how that would work easily with this box. We purchased the Purina Tidy Cats, non clumping. We also purchased the Arm & Hammer deodorizing scent to sprinkle in with the litter. (Just in case we needed to cover smell more..which possibly was unnecessary) I feel this will work out great for us, as I can't clean the box right now because I am almost 6 months pregnant. It has become my 8 year old daughter's chore for now. (My husband does clean it mostly. But he thinks this will be so much easier/quicker to clean out..especially for our daughter) I will review again after we have been using it for longer. But I give it 4 stars because I believe it will work out perfectly! I also price matched the online price, in store, and saved us almost $10!. Which made the box cheaper than a lot of other standard boxes offered at our local Walmart. :) The box also has vents at the top. I'm assuming you could use the scented inserts there!

The opening is high towards the top of pail. Confusing for my cat and that's really strange. He started using a make shift pail I made with an aluminum baking dish at 4 weeks old!! He was too small to get into the smallest litter pail ! Emptying it is a real hassle!!!very expensive for any hassles!

Not recommended for larger (long) cats . They have a hard time turning around. They end up doing there business outside the box. Very heavy to lift and messy when you need to clean

The 4 latches are impossible to open and close. Must use plyers to do both. eventually, there going to break. Im a big man and i have trouble with them. My girlfriend broke a nail and was not happy. The swinging door falls off due to our cat playing with it. was absolutely not worth the money. Will return and just go back to a simple tub. This multiple part closesed, sifting cat litter box takes too muchtime to clean. Still need a scooper or tool to scrape all the stuck on pop and urine litter clogged on the sifter. Plus the supposably no smell enclosure is worthless.
