Absolutely love the Vego compost machine! After struggling with an in-ground compost setup that raccoons turned into their buffet, I was ready for a change. I keep my kitchen scraps in the fridge, and once a week, I pull out the Vego. It's incredibly satisfying to see the scraps turn into nutrient-rich dirt so quickly! Initially, I felt a bit intimidated, but a couple of instructional videos made it straightforward to use. I highly recommend this for anyone looking to simplify their composting experience. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Despite good intentions, I've had pretty negative experiences with a standard outdoor composter, and I eventually gave up trying. I was intrigued by Vego's countertop composter, but wondered if it would live up to the hype. It totally does. At first, I had some reservations about the size. It is BIG. Bigger than a KitchenAid stand mixer. But it's sleek, simple, and we decided to try it anyway because we really wanted to start composting to make better use of waste. I'm so glad we did! It offers a few, depending on your end use, and it completely exceeded my expectations and my husband's who was humoring me in this experiment. We have used it almost exclusively in Vego mode. it's so simple to operate. Add your fruit & veggies stems, peels, scraps, plant matter, pet food scraps, etc. , add a little water and a Vego tab, and in 9-12 hours, it turns that waste into high-quality ready-to-use compost. There is absolutely no smell (we were worried about that). It feels kind of miraculous. We have used it every day--it's become our new favorite kitchen appliance. It's easy to empty and clean. Love it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'd give it 4. 5stars. I have the new kitchen composter and love it. Hard to open at first but then loosens enough to be manageable. I wish it was bigger because we fill it so quickly, needing to turn it on (Vego mode) twice a week. Wishing I could just dump it outside instead of mixing it with soil, but it's really just kitchen scraps made into dirt, and I don't want to entice the wildlife. This will be less of an issue as I turn over the beds in the fall and spring. My neighbors have graciously offered to take any extra! But I love making so much less garbage, feeding my beds, and it's 'easy to use. Good job, Vego!

I had some reservations until I utilized it. The items are not completely composted, but it's a step in the right direction and I can place it in my raised bed, in ground beds or in my outdoor compost. My primary objective is to reduce waste and utilize my small microclimate garden to its full potential. It's not essential, but I am extremely pleased with it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I can't believe how I lived without this device. I have the raised Vego beds and an outdoor compost bin. But during the colder winter weather, compostables don't break down very quickly. Now I can make usable compost in a days time! And it's also the perfect texture for use in my houseplants. If I don't want to use a Vego tab, I will make slightly coarser compost which I can add to my asparagus bed over the winter. Plus my “scratch and dent” discounted model had nothing wrong with it. Only a small amount of dirt/charcoal smeared on the case. Bonus points for it being so quiet!

I love my Vego composter! I have been wanting to put a compost in the backyard but don't always have the time or stamina to keep up with it. When I saw this compact model it was a no brainer for me. I understand it may not be ideal for some people but it is a practical solution to a problem I've had for sometime - not wanting to throw garbage down the disposal or in the garbage. My family from Cincinnati was visiting over Memorial Day weekend and they each bought one too!

Bought a scratch and dent version a little over a month ago. I've only used the Vego mode so far, but it works well and controls odor. My only complaint is that it's extremely difficult to get the bucket in and out of the machine to empty it. It's a fight every time. This could be because my machine is “scratch and dent”, but if I'd known it would be like this, I'd have purchased something different.

This is my second attempt with the kitchen compost. I bought one previously but stop working. I'm hoping that this one continue performing well. I love the product, very efficient to decompose food scraps, that's the reason I'm giving it another try.

I was happy with it until I realized the vital bolt it's function depends on had snapped. I reached out to Vego, but because I noticed it FOUR DAYS after the one year warranty they won't do anything to repair or replace it. I'm a single person household, so it got under a year of LIGHT use as I didn't unbox and begin using it immediately. I guess I shouldn't have been an early adopter so I could have seen reviews of whether it would last before spending so much money
