We bought the recumbent bike for my 93 year old mother so that she could exercise without having to deal with balancing issues. She uses the bike a couple of times a day. It keeps her joints loose while providing varying levels of resistance. The only negative is that my mother is a shorter person (5 feet) and the seat does not adjust far enough forward to put her into a proper sitting position so we put a pillow behind her back and that fixed the problem.
I purchased this exercise bicycle for my husband who has Parkinson's. He needed a recumbent seat and needed to work both his legs and his arms. I searched the web for an affordable unit and we are very pleased with our choice. This bicycle does not take up much space allowing us to set it up in a convenient area in our home. He can get on it easily, place his feet in stirrups, and his hands in stirrups with no assistance. He enjoys keeping track of the time and distance that the machine monitors. This East Texas couple couldn't be happier with this purchase!
I like this bike a lot but the mileage tracker does not seem accurate. It is also hard to adjust the arm tensions. Not sure what level you are on like the foot petals. I would recommend this though. I bought it to do my physical therapy at home and to get in shape.
I find this machine to be sturdy and well made. It function well both for the pedaling portion and the hand crank; The seat is positioned too close to the backrest to allow really using the recumbent feature. I cant comment on durability as I have had it only a few days. I am i9n the process of repositioning the seat.
I purchased this exercise bike for my husband and myself due to the gyms being closed. The bike arrived in a very large box and my husband used a furniture dolly to move into the garage for unpacking and assembly. Bike parts were well packaged with the hand bike bars, the foot pedals, handle bars with battery operated display case, seat back and seat, and support bars for front and back, needing assembly. There are no written instructions, just illustrations and very tiny parts pictures. Luckily, my 74 year old husband is mechanically inclined and strong and was able to assemble the bike with my help balancing and finding the correct parts (my vision is a bit better than his.) Overall, the bike meets our needs as it is easy to move the seat forward and back to adjust for different leg lengths, the tensions for the hand bike bars and the foot pedals are easy to modify, and the display is fairly easy to read. To zero out the "time, distance, heart rate," hold the control button for a few seconds until the display shows "888888" on all settings. Each setting must be independently zeroed out. The total miles cannot be zeroed out, but the individual miles for each session can be deleted. (In other words, the display keeps a running total of all miles ridden, but each session can begin anew at zero.) I can move the bike easily on the front wheels and I am 74 and 5'2". If the company wants to upgrade the bike, the addition of a water bottle holder and a holder for a cell phone would be quite nice. Also, the seat and seat back are quite comfortable; more so than any models we have used at the gyms we frequent. The Bike is very stable on the carpet in our Master Bedroom. We both feel like we get a good workout, especially me because I actually work up a sweat. I gave only 4-stars due to the fact that the hand bike bar on the left loosens while operating it and it has to frequently be tightened. My hands are sore, so I may need my husband to tighten the adjustment. Also, not having written instructions is a time waster, but we still assembled the bike in under 3 hours.
This recumbent bicycle seems to be working fine. It's quiet and sturdy. We like the upper body exercise option in addition to the pedaling exercise. A couple of problems had to be resolved. First I had to fix one of the foot pedals and one of the arm exercise pieces by using a welding compound on the threads so they wouldn't keep coming unscrewed. Second issue is the assembly instructions which are some of the worst I've ever encountered. If I hadn't had a lot of experience putting together various pieces of equipment I would have given up in frustration. We use the recumbent everyday. Bought it on sale so it's certainly worth the price paid.
Free shipping was the deal breaker for other suppliers. I read some horror stories about assembly but was up for the challenge. The unit arrived without the owner's manual but a quick email to the supplier provided the link to the on line manual. Assembly was pretty easy if you have a modicum of mechanical skills, but you'll need an extra set of hands for some of the steps. The biggest advantage to this machine is that it is primarily mechanical. No digital control units to fail. Wish me luck!
The exercise bike was easy to assemble and we are glad to have it as an alternate to our elliptical. The size is compact and fine for a domestic setting. The hand-pedal motion caused a loud squeal, but my husband was able to disassemble it and apply powdered graphite, which fixed the problem. If we had not been able to correct the noise, our rating for the bike would have been "average," at best. The hand-pedal motion does not seem to register on any of the counter functions on the monitor, and the monitor is difficult to read.
Bought this for my grandpa for rehab. The Velocity bike had crack/chips in the plastic, it appeared to have been opened or used prior to receiving, and after a few uses we noticed bolts loosening up and had to be retightened. This also isn't good for tall people or those with long legs. Ended up returning it to Walmart.
I would give a higher rating if I knew how the bike worked. It came without a very important component...the connecting U-Slide for the seat. Only giving it 2 stars because up until the point of noticing the piece was missing, assembly was pretty easy. Waiting on company now to send the part....not expedited. Customer service says it will take 5-7 business days to process. Very disappointed...if I order something, I should have all parts and if for some reason don't, it should be shipped at the very least in a 2 day frame.
