As a child, the only cheese we ate was Velveeta -- lunchmeat %26 cheese sandwiches, grilled cheese, on homemade cheeseburgers, etc. I think I was a teenager before I ever tasted cheddar cheese. As an adult, I've come to enjoy many varieties of cheese, but I still like Velveeta for the good memories I associate with it. Velveeta was what we used to make Rotel cheese dip, which became popular when I was in college in the 1970s (I'm in Texas). So I was happy to discover this %26 enjoyed it with chips -- again reminding me of good memories. One of the things I like about Velveeta is that it isn't trying to be something it's not -- it isn't cheddar, colby, etc. It's an American-style cheese. If you like Velveeta, try this. Or just try it anyway. I like it more than other jarred queso I've eaten.
The easiest thing in the world never have to make your own queso just heat Everyone that has it my house starts to buy it didn't even know it exist. So happy that now I BUY THIS and I always keep stuck in my cupboard.
This Velveeta cheese spread and the Velveeta Blanco cheese spread are both very good as a spread and heated as a dip! It is spicey and I usually always choose "mild" but this may be a little more like medium, but it's so good it's worth a little more "heat"
Bought to add over the top of my frozen burritos, I found it a little thick and bland. However, adding a can of diced tomatoes with green chilies made it a perfect topping with just the right amount of zing! Any leftover was an excellent dip for chips.
If you're a fan of the iconic Velveeta %26 Rotel tomato melted dip to eat with Fritos, this is a quick alternative. It's a bit spicier than the other, and although I like spicy food, it distracts from the cheesy flavor; however, it is tasty. It also makes a nice dip for other kinds of chips like potato and tortilla, without heating up, and is good melted over broccoli or other veggies for a change.
I did not really expect the jalapeno content. I am a little sensitive to heat/spice. But even allowing for my personal stomach-failings, I felt the flavor an value did not really merit the expense. Next time I will just but a brick of Velveeta and add my own flavorings.
Velveeta Cheese does not actually melt like other cheese dips that I have bought. It just sort of gets hot and lays there, it does not get melty all over the nachos. It tastes very good, but I like Taco Bell or other cheese dips that melt all over the chips. Also when you open the jar, the cheese is solid. You can spoon it out of the jar, but you cannot just drip the cheese over the nachos or fries. It is not bad to spread on frozen tacos, burritos, or some other snack that you can microwave. I have not tried heating it up in a pan, so maybe at a higher temperature it will liquefy.
Too spicy for my taste. If you're going to make it that spicy, the label should reflect that. Mild, medium and spicy are the usual descriptors and this one should have been called “extra spicy.” I couldn't eat it.
When I purchased I thought that it would be along the line of cheese whiz. I was wrong. Do enjoy the little bit of spice you get but the consistency from the refrigerator is very thick. Not a big fan of the taste of velveeta. The only purpose for me would be for Mac and cheese.
Was excited to try this but it was awful, had no flavor at all. It is almost solid in form, even after heating it up the texture was anything but creamy.
