Good deal on a good product
I have used Coco Chips before but not this brand. I love that it is compact into a easy to handle and easy to store block. It expands as soon as you open the bag and fluff it up, A 10lb block goes a long ways. I mainly used it for my moisture loving veggies and in this hot weather it helps retain moisture so I have less frequent watering to do. I also have owned reptiles in the past and this is a high quality substrate which is perfect to mimic natural habitat and hold moisture for those that need it. I highly recommend this product.
The heat lamp in my daughter's turtle tank always drys out the water. These dampened wood chips help keep moisture in the tank. We leave some dry wood chips and some wet so her turtle will have both options. The woodchips come compacted into a square. You can choose to use the whole thing at once if you have a larger area to cover or just use a little at a time like I did.
Very good as a natural mulch for gardening. I used to put around my vegetable plants in my outside garden. It's air packed so it covers a lot more than what you would think. It's safe to use around your veggie plants since it's natural and very good at keeping the soil from driving out.
Easy to use and clean up after being soiled in tank. The chunks absorb spilled water and messes from your tank friend. It's coconut so it's natural and has no dust. I am not worried about this product being munched on or ingested as it has no chemicals or dyes! Much better than paper products for absorbency.
I have the Coco Chips Premium Reptile and Poultry Bedding that is made by Viagrow. This is a ten pound ( 4.5KG) bag. These coco chips are 100% natural. While it comes tightly packaged, you will simply add nine to ten gallons of warm water and watch it expand to about 18 gallons of usuable product. These coco chips are great for snakes, lizards, geckos, tortoises, and amphibians. Since these chips retain water they help with humidity and they do a great job and resisting fungus. They are odor-absorbing, healthy, and earth-friendly. They are 100% organic and safe for your pets. Having said all of that, these are also excellent for use with your plants. I like to mix them into my soil for my bedding plants and my indoor plants. You will find these are pH stable, odor free, and very beneficial for increasing aeration, aiding in drainage, and they do a great job improving moisture retention. Grab a bag today and thank me later!
I used Viagrow Coco Chips, Expandable Brick, 5KG, Reptile Substrate on a chicken coop. It was a little work and I have plenty to do it again a few times. The Viagrow Coco Chips come in a block you put it in a wheel barrel and pour 5 gallons of water on it when it’s all moist and broke up you lay it on a tarp to dry then you can put it in your coop or you can use it for reptiles in a cage. It makes 18 gallons. I like it n my chicken Reba seems to like it to. Last for about a week.
We used this to care for an albino rabbit with sensitivities. It absorbs wonderfully, & doesnt seem to effect her like harsh cedar that could harm her respiratory. Its a huge compacted square of coconut coir chips, & lasts us a very long time. No water required, we just take a leather glove and break a bunch off into her habitat.
I like the fact that this product comes "compressed" in a large brick. It takes up less room in my apartment than a loose bag of reptile chips. My bearded dragon seems to like the texture and earthy smell of these chips. No complaints from him...lol.
The Coco Chips are great for plants and critters. I plan to use the Coco Chips for my plant beds. The block is bigger than I expected it to be, it comes compressed in a solid block. Once you get the block open you'll need to find a container to store the unused portion. I would definitely recommend the ViaGrow Coco Chips.
