My dog is obsessed. She grabbed this toy from my hand as soon as I opened the package- and I had to wrestle it out of her mouth to take the packaging off! First of all- they had me at eco- friendly! I love anything that is good for the environment. I also appreciate that it is made in the United States. I really try to be cognizant of what I am allowing my dog to chew- so that was really helpful. The “spikes” that are on the toy are helpful for chewing- and gum health. Cleary my dog loves the chicken flavor, as she hasn't allowed anyone to take her toy away! We got the medium, and it is the perfect size for my 40 pound lab mix. She has been chewing it nonstop- and she is a very aggressive chewer- so this is amazing. We have to stay clear of many of the softer toys because she destroys those within moments. The fact that 10 minutes later, she is still chewing is amazing! She hasn't lost interest either, which is amazing! The barracuda is in a light blue color, and although she is gnawing off the ends, it is still intact. Also, I like knowing where the toy came from and that it's eco friendly - since I know that my dog inevitably ingests some of the pieces! This is a really great toy - good for your dog's oral health- as well as any dog that chews as aggressively as mine does… I know you will be satisfied!
This toy actually holds up to our aggressive chewer who usually chews toys up within minutes this one he hasn't yet. was happy to see that could order on walmart.com since our local store hasn't had it in
This dog toy is very durable and heavy duty! My small 15 pound dog had no interest in playing with it. It seemed to heavy for him. I think big dogs would love it though. The texture is nice and I think it would hold up well with a lot of play.
This toy is fairly nice for small to medium size dogs. Larger dogs can destroy quickly. They seem to enjoy chewing on it for periods of time. No noticeable gum irritation. I received this free to test.
The appearance is great, cute fish! But my dogs weren't interested in it. Not sure why. Also wasn't sure about the fact that it's made from recycled plastic. I was worried about my one dog who can destroy a toy in a minute. I'll put it away fro a while and then bring it out again. Maybe their tunes will have changed!
Personally, I like the color and design of the chew toy (blue fish) and it seems a good size for one. My beagle on the other hand gave it a sniff and pretty much ignores it, despite the claim on the packaging that it is chicken flavored. I sniffed at the hard plastic material of the toy and it didn't have any scent that smelled of chicken. It does have nubs for texture. For design and construction, I give it a good rating. For dog appeal (mine), it's a bust. Two stars.
My dog is a chewer. She can destroy an indestructible dog toy in less than 15 min, so I thought this might keep her busy for a little while. Except she didn't care for it at all. She chewed on it for about 30 seconds and it's been sitting in the same spot on the floor where she left it days ago. Maybe it's too hard? I don't know, it doesn't seem like something you'd want in your mouth, and I was a little worried about it being such hard plastic if she DID get really into it. I think this one is a pass.
Grabbed this for my husky who seems to have an obsession with hard plasticky toys. She's 8m old and about 35lbs. Within 24hrs of having this she had chewed the head and tail up and was actually pulling off pieces as she chewed it which is dangerous. I took it away after that. I don't recommend this to power chewers or or really at all with the way the plastic flakes off. Picture shows a dirty fish because she had taken it outside with her.
Dogs don't like it very much. Not sure if it has a squeaky - which is a sure winner with all dogs. Maybe suitable for small dogs. Admittedly, ours are not.
Don't even bother with these if your dog chews harder than a yorkie! Within 10 -supervised- minutes, my two dogs were pulling huge chunks of thin plastic off, like way more than you normally would with a hard nylon chew. It seems like the recycled plastic is shredded and compressed together, similar to particleboard, and separates very easily. Not safe for dogs at all :(
