This is the first electronic thermometer that I have owned that provided satisfactory service. Everything else I've had has been unpredictable and inconsistent, making it hard to ascertain exactly what was going on. This one is simple and straightforward and very consistent. It is still in the lower price bracket I believe I paid $12 for it and it is much more reliable even than the expensive ear thermometer that I had tried earlier!
Reasonable price. Works great. East to read and see even in the dark. Compared this to the temperature readings of my Thermo Pop food themermomter by having them read the temperature of warm water. They were 0.2 degrees in difference. It's not a scientific test but that's closes enough for me. I do recommend this.
Easy to use and results are much faster than the old mercury thermometers and you don't have to shake the mercury down. Like the large display. Readings from underarm are about 1 degree below from mouth which is more accurate but this is true of all thermometers and it's easy to use in underarm.
this is amazing the best thermometer me and my family ever had the flexibility is great very reliability and numbers are easy to read and it can be used for the hole family and love that it can be used in mouth and underpits and for baby's taken there temp in butt also lights up 3 different colors to tell you your temperature
I'm a vet tech and I got this thermometer as a replacement for an old one that finally died. This is my favorite thermometer for use in animal patients because it is faster than any of the ones my clinic provides. It gives accurate readings in just a few short seconds, plus it's flexible which I'm sure the animals appreciate. I highly recommend this to anyone!
Received product in excellent shape and in a timely manner. I have not had an occasion to use the product yet but should an occasion arise I will return to this platform and hopefully it will allow me to update and edit this review. Thank you to each person who had anything to do with my order getting to me. You all rock!
Get *THIS* Vick's thermometer *NOT* the rapid read. The rapid read one is garbage. It's worth waiting the extra few seconds to get an accurate temperature instead of a random number between 96 and 100. If you have small kids that won't stay still, get a forehead thermometer, but this one is good for older kids and adults. My only gripe is that this version doesn't have a way to change modes (underarm vs. mouth) so the red/yellow/green fever indicator is only based on one set of temperatures.
I didn't like the fact that nowhere on the outside of the box, or even on the web page, does it say you must cover the thermometer's tip with a single use disposable probe cover. Now, I'm not sure that this is a requirement really. But the fact that it doesn't say anything about it until you get the box open and read the instructions, and find out they don't even include any disposable probe covers with the product shows how cheap Vicks is. I also don't like how, when you've turned the thermometer on, when it's ready to be used, it shows the word "Lo". Now anyone reading that would think that's talking about a low battery. Oh no, if the battery is low there's some sort of V symbol. This makes no sense whatsoever. And finally we come to the accuracy. How do you really know whether a thermometer is accurate? You may have another one of a different manufacturer, but you don't know which one is correct, do you? My other thermometer showed a temperature of 100.3°, and this Vicks thermometer measured 102.2. To me, that's a significant difference. I think anything that isn't industry grade is a waste. So maybe next time I'll make a deal with my doctor's office and get a used thermometer from them at a reduced price, haha.
If I could give less than 1 star I would - didn't work out of box, says "Err" every time. Are there any thermometers that work on the planet? How would you know if they did? We have tried at least 5 different types and brands, all are junk. The old mercury thermometers may have been hard to read but at least you knew they were accurate.
Its just sad that a name brand like Vicks is making this piece of junk. It is so bad that I felt like throwijg it at the face of anyone who designed this. The temperature measurement is random for 1 sec it will show 97.5 then suddently its 98.3 then suddenly its back to 97.6. I could feel my baby was warm and still it kept recording 97.8. I tried my other thermometer and it was 99.2. Most of the time it keeps showing "LO". Its very hard to get it to read anything.
