Very strong menthol. Benzocaine relieves soreness.
I could use Cepacol drops that have benzocaine to relieve sore throat pain, these include menthol to help clear the nose and sinuses. When I have a sore throat due to a cold, I also have a congested nose. Cepacol won't help with the congestion. Most cough drops have menthol, and that's it, so this adds benzocaine to really soothe a sore throat. Definitely more expensive than the cheap common cough drops with only menthol, but definitely more effective with the addition of benzocaine. The taste isn't great, but medicine rarely is. These aren't meant to be menthol candy. There is no nutritional info on the package, but I'm sure these have some calories and carbs due from added sugar. No nutritional info at vicks.com, either. Mint/menthol is the only flavor choice (Vicks doesn't make other flavors). Sucrets has cherry flavor, but its dyclonine isn't as effective as benzocaine. These have 20 mg menthol versus 6 mg for Sucrets and other menthol cough drops, so these are stronger to help clear the congestion. I buy these to stock in a glass jar w/lid to store until needed. These are effective. Will buy (and have bought) again. These stay on my wish list.
