I prefer the original Victor trap with the metal bait plate. These are harder to set and are too easily triggered by the slightest wind or rainfall. They rust very easily so I spray the metal pieces with WD40 oil so they can be used outside, which helps a little.

This rat trap is huge. The wooden area on this rat trap is very thick and sturdy. There is plenty of room to put your bait and the spring action is no joke and has a lot of power. Would definitely recommend for anyone who is having an issue with rats.

This was a little scary to set up, I was afraid it would snap and break one of my fingers, but that is what you want with a rat trap! Very sensitive and VERY powerful. I wish there were a way to set it up that didn't put your hands at risk, but it does the job very well!

Is anyone else having trouble catching the mice that escape the good outdoors and make your home theirs? I've used these traps for years but this year they are just not catching mice. I've seen the mice but nothing caught. Did Victor change the way these are made? The wood used?

WASTE OF MONEY - get the old metal trap instead. In the company's efforts to increase profits, it created a dangerous design. THESE PLASTIC YELLOW TRAPS ARE AWFUL. Setting them is near impossible (safely). Get the old metal traps - there is a reason they still make both - because people will buy these, throw them in the garbage, and then buy the metal ones.

The worst customer service I've experienced. I've purchased many dozens of these rat traps over the years. Recently I received several batches that were defective where the attachment staples over penatrated the wood base and came out the backside of the trap. This made the trap unfunctional and with sharp staples exposed. (found out the hard way). I'm up to 9 of these defective rat traps. Frustrated with the sudden poor quality control I contacted customer service and was on hold for nearly 20 minutes to be told... No offer to replace. No sorry about the issue. No a single question. Just... "Thank you for letting us know about this issue" Something as simple as a rat trap and they screwed it up!

We have been having mice problems and it seems Victor is a big name brand for taking care of those problems. We chose this because it's a non poison option. I know that this is intended for "rats" but it should work for mice too. However, we have not had luck with this brand and these type of traps capturing any critters as it's intending to. I will update my review if possible if we do capture any with it.

new style with plastic trigger is not well designed. rats just lick off peanut butter or take a piece of meat and the trap is not triggered. bought one from another company that still used a triggering system like the older models of Victor traps. first night i set itand the rat was dead in the new trap
