Anyone that has Moles knows that it is an ongoing battle with the unsightly mounds of dirt. . In the past, I have flattened the mounds and was not aware of Victor Mole & Gopher Repellent, till I received the product for review. It is eco-friendly and drives the Moles away with castor oil and a non poisonous proprietary ingredient. If a product advertises that it's going to kill animals with poison, I will completely avoid (unless you're a spider). Good to know there's no chance of harming the little varmints. I found a study conducted by Michigan State University researchers (Dudderar et al. 1995) who tested a product containing castor oil as a tunneling critter repellent. The researchers reported a good degree of effectiveness in reducing the number of active surface tunnels Who knew Moles hated castor oil! The directions say to avoid treating the entire lawn in one application – Which will waste the product and cause Moles to tunnel wildly in any direction to escape the repellent. You want to apply the granules in stages to move the critters away from your yard.. My 5 day:Mole-herding Game:Plan: Day 1 I began with U shaped strategy along the sidewalk, driveway and curb which is where they love to pop out with mounds. Day 2 I repeated the U shape and started first of six herding patterns from left to right to push them off the property. I marked these areas with string tied to landscape pins. Days 3 thru 5 Each successive application to a new area, I re-applied and watered over the "old areas" from the previous days. Rinse- Repeat. Might seem like over doing it, but it is working.Too early to tell if the results will last for the rest of the summer, but so far so good.
There are distinct directions to follow to be sure the product works at repelling the Moles, gophers and other underground varmint. Each day you apply a certain amount in a certain area and sprinkle in approximately 20 minutes, continue each day for 4 consecutive days. There is a process to follow so you are sure to repel them away in one direction. The product is easy to use and appears to be working. For the days of application and where the product was applied, I do not see any new mole hills. I am very pleased with this product, especially since it is a non toxic repellent and not a toxic killing chemical. Thumbs up on this one!!
This product works as advertised, but it's a little labor intensive and may not make the neighbors happy. It takes several days, depending on the size of your yard, to complete the treatment. I did mine in 5 days and the gophers are gone from my yard but all they did was migrate to the neighbors yard. So you better be ready to share, keep quiet or bear the anger. I will also be interested in seeing how long it lasts (days, weeks, months). My final conclusion is it's a good product that will successfully at least move gophers out of your yard as long as you follow the recommended treatment guidelines. Like I said this only migrates the critters so you will have to work with your neighbors to keep them going out of their yard.
Effective control - just needs multiple applications 3-4 weeks apart.
While the product is easy to use, it is time consuming. Like most people I hoped for a "one and done" type of treatment. To use this product be prepared to invest several days (at least 4) in treating your yard. You have to treat one section at a time with the product for the purpose of driving the rodents away from your property. You also have to sprinkle some of the product in the actual rodent holes. Then, the area has to be watered to allow it to soak in. I had very few mole tunnels/soft spots in my yard this year as compared to years past and therefore can not say if this product actually worked well or if the crazy weather pattern on the east coast with snow in May 2020 was a factor. I will recommend it though due to no new evidence of moles but I'll take away a star for the tedious application process. I received the product free from the Spark Reviewer program however, the opinions in this review are my own.
I live in a wooded rural area & 2 yrs ago we started getting getting gopher mounds & tunnels in our backyard. We've tried different products that have all failed. Then we tried Victor dual action mole & gopher repellent. The pros are that it's safe for pets & the environment which is a major plus since we have two dogs. We followed the directions carefully for the first five days. They say Day 1 - Spread the granules over the first area and water-in with a sprinkler for approximately 20 minutes. Watering allows the concentrated granules to penetrate deeply into the lawn. Day 2 - Spread the granules over the second area. Water-in the same are as Day 1, as well as the second area to get the mole moving. Each day's watering allows the granules to penetrate more deeply. Day 3 - Spread granules over the third area. Water-in the same areas as Day 1 and 2, as well as the third area to keep the mole moving. Day 4 - Spread the granules over the fourth area. Water-in the same areas as Days 1, 2, and 3, as well as the fourth area to move the mole out of the yard. On day 6 we increased the amount of the product we we using & tried the process again & finally saw results!! Unfortunately more than one bag is needed for this to occur. I do recommend this product but only with the adjusted amounts
If you got problems with moles or gophers trying this will help get them to move on just alot of work but is worth it in the end just to get them gone especially away from your garden or just out the yard. Poke some holes in there paths and keep it going
We live in a rural area and have noticed several gopher trails starting about 8 weeks ago. I ordered the Victor Mole and Gopher Repellent. Have started treatment on one side of our house and will do repeated treatments in different areas and wait to see if it drives them out and away from our property altogether. A little soon to tell but hoping for good results...the only reason for the 3 star rating is haven't used product long enough to give viable results.
Product seems to work pretty well for smaller yards or land. However, if you try to spread it out too much over too many acres (we have about 12 open acres) it doesn't work as well. Overall, it's a good product and will do the job for concentrated areas.
I carefully followed the instructions and treated the yard in stages, watered each stage, and then the next day did another section. I couldn't tell a difference. I think there might be even more tunnels. It's possible it would work better if I used poisons first to get rid of the moles and then tried to keep new ones out, but this didn't seem to have an effect on the pests already in my yard.
