I read the bad reviews for this product after I had already bought it; so once I came around to placing the trap, I did not have much faith in it actually working. Thankfully the reviews were wrong. The trap worked like a charm. I was only trying to catch one mouse, so I only used one trap and had glue traps scattered throughout the kitchen. The morning after I set the trap, I woke up to find not one but two mice in my kitchen. One was killed by the Victor Quick Trap and another (that I DID NOT know I had) stuck on the glue trap. That night I put out the other Victor trap, and the next morning it had killed another mouse. The product WORKS!!!!! The only problem I have is that it killed more mice than I knew had. **By the way, a small dab a peanut butter does wonders.
I've had problems with mice the last few weeks. tried poisoning the mouse, making homemade mouse traps- none of them worked. I finally purchased this product despite seeing some negative reviews. The mouse likes to hide in the top part of my stove so I set the trap up there with peanut butter, shut off the light and went into the other room. Not even 30 seconds later I hear the trap and the mouse is caught! Worked like a charm!
I periodically have mice in the kitchen area and have used these traps on several different occasions. I like how easy it is to dispose of the critters once they are trapped (I don't like to look at the dead rodents so it's nice to just squeeze the trigger and drop the body into a plastic bag). A little dab of peanut butter does the trick and most of the time you don't even need to add more after a mouse is trapped. I have 2 traps now and plan to get a couple more so I can put some in the garage.
I love this new style. Placing the bait (peanut butter) on the underside of the lip is a fantastic way to make sure the mice actually trigger the trap. They are easy to set and easy to dispose the mice. The spring does get weaker over time, but I have no problem replacing them. Nothing lasts forever. They do their job, and that's what matters.
I'm surprised at the reviews saying it didn't kill the mouse the first time they used it. At least I'm assuming it was the first time. I had these for a while, and this is what I've learned: they work great early, but apparently the spring loses some "oomph" as years go by. I never experienced a trap set off without a mouse in it. One lived. It was the last time I set that particular trap. Another trap couldn't be reset. It simply didn't catch to remain open. Note, though, I used both traps for a few years before this situation occurred. I caught roughly six or seven mice over the years before it was an issue. So bottom line - I recommend the trap, but suggest replacing them every few years. Apparently mice come in from the cold and find their way to the shelf above my stove. As a result, I keep a trap set up there constantly. Every now and then, I find a mouse in it. I usually find a couple more within a week of the first, then the problem goes away for a while. The point is if you have a trap set all the time, the spring weakens, so replacing every 3 or 4 years makes sense. If you only set them after seeing activity, they'd probably last longer. Hope this helps.
Breaks when you set it, it snaps on your finger and it does nothing. Falls apart. What a waste of money and time. Not worth the time and effort to fix. DONT BUY!!!!
The traps with the red "V" on the top, as pictured here, worked pretty well for me. The ones they are now selling (in my local store at least) don't have any coloring or logos on the top and they are junk, do not buy those. These newer are still made by Victor, but they are slightly smaller suggesting they are a different model and they do not trigger. I had 6 of them set in my garage and basement and mice just ate the bait off them multiple times. I threw them away. I live in the woods and have been catching mice for 20 years so I know how to apply bait and where to place traps.
This trap works well except you can't see if the bait has been eaten off the trap unless you pick it up. I'm going back to the original style Victor traps for that reason.
I bought some of these traps about five years ago. They caught everything. Now, for some reason, the peanut butter is gone but the trap isn't sprung. They don't seem to be as sensitive as before. Either that or the mice have all learned the trick
These are the worst mouse traps I have EVER purchased. Supposed to be "easy to set" & I couldn't even get them to latch. I had purchased some similar to these another time that worked well, however, these are definately NOT the ones I got before. Cheaply made. I just threw these away & went back to the old style traps.
