I'm using this bedside….it's my version of “white noise”. The sound and reception is definitely superior to the radio alarms, or the boom boxes I've had in the past. It looks nice also. Cons: The power cord and wire antenna are both covered with the cheap China Inc. plastic, instead of the quality rubber type ones. The volume control is very sensitive, it's hard to get the level that I want. As others stated the tuning dial is imprecise, but I think that's pretty common in the less expensive radios. I think it's overpriced, but right now I can't point to a better value.
This radio is phenomenal for elderly folk. The radio station reception is great. The dials work like an old fashioned radio did, with the knob to turn it on being the volume as well. It has a nice big dial for tuning. It is also fun to be able to play any song someone wants to hear with Bluetooth. Perfect!!
I really liked how easy to use the rotary dial was. The Bluetooth feature worked great, and I was impressed by the sound quality as expected. It has a beautiful vintage look.
Better than I expected! Not really pretty but sound is really really good. Nice to have treble/bass control. Picks up FM stations just fine. Haven't tried AM yet since I don't tune in to that very often. Really don't need the BT feature, but for some that might be a plus. Definitely "retro" and reminds me of the way bigger radios when families (before TV) would gather around and "watch" radio! Nostalgic, but then I'm not a youngster. Overall, would definitely recommend. Sometimes wish it had a snooze button so that I could listen til sleep overcame me. I guess that's what clock radios are for but I didn't want the always present light coming from the radio. This Victrola is perfect for me!
Oh my, Ive bought so many items at Walmart, by far this is one I will cherish. This radio replaces another I had for 10 plus years that began to show its age. But this is an upgrade. Music sound is great and the Bluetooth, whoa that was a seamless connection! I recommend, recommend, recommend!!!
Very sensitive tuning FM
Decent sound. Could be worse. I wouldn't rely on it for listening to music at more than a low-ish volume. I picked this up to listen to podcasts and NPR in my kitchen and it works great for that, though.
The radio is attractive and the FM band works great...but I have only been able to receive one AM station clearly. My clock radio that is in the same room receives many more stations. I am disappointed .
By the 1940's standards of radio, this is an excellent device especially in that it provides a no-fuss experience. By no-fuss I mean: no logging-in, no setting of date or time, no choosing a time zone, no setting of brightness or dimness, no 'choosing' radio stations, no power-dependent memory of all these things, and no USB charging. The sound quality is better than that of my TV/monitor. The bluetooth works. The FM reception is very good (or perhaps excellent) despite a competing AM/FM transmitter less than five hundred metres (500 m) away. The antenna bundle has simply been left in-place in the out-of-box factory condition, so improvements on the above (or problems below) might be possibe by stretching it out in the right direction. NEGATIVES --------- The FM dial reads about one or two megahertz high (tune to 101 MHz to find a station near 100 MHz). I have some AM receivers which are more effective especially at hearing despite the high AM local 'noise'. These few negative aspects are greatly outweighed by the positives of the device.
Bought this a few years ago and it was fine initially. Sound quality is fantastic and the aesthetic of the radio is exactly what I'm after. However, lately the blutooth connection is problematic. The connection disconnects and reconnects randomly and frequently rendering the speaker useless for what I want it for. There is no clear instruction on how to figure out why this is happening.
