I had used this before on many of my vinyl records. It does a good job of releasing whatever grime is stuck in the groves without damaging the record. I am very happy that I found this at Walmart!

Best record cleaning solution out there. Cleans very well, leaves a nice shine on the records.

I was bugged when I saw the solution was cloudy upon pouring it into my new record cleaner. But I decided to go with it and give it a fair shake. The solution has an extremely pleasant odour. And it sure removed the dirt and grime and oily deposits on 14 records that ranged from very clean to filthy. After drying in the Vinyl Styl rack they looked much improved and the clean ones still looked clean. Unfortunately there is very painfully obvious soap residue left dried on the shiny smooth parts of the disk. And if that residue is on the shiny areas I guarantee it's in the grooves too. So while I fully endorse the Vinyl Styl cleaner, dump the solution and create your own. I am going to try a mixture of 75% and 25% of 91% isopropyl alcohol and distilled water. With /maybe/ 5-10 drops of Jet Dry or Kodak Photo-Flo to make the water more miscible. Without some very careful listening I can't say that the soap residue left by the Vinyl Styl cleaner affects the sound on playback. I would feel more confident using my own solution. Or buying a second Vinyl Styl cleaner and using it for a final distilled water only rinse. Twice the expense, yes, but detergent in the Vinyl Styl solution is probably highly effective on some contaminants the alcohol doesn't affect. It does work but the residue it leaves bothers me at the very least aesthetically.
