Easy to use and space efficient

Pat1413 August 9, 2025

Not only is this a very good product as a food processor, I most enjoy the fact that it shares the same motor as the vitamix blender, which is a great space saver. Very happy with my purchase

Really glad!

Jujubeee March 16, 2021

I bought it because some receipe was a little hard to make in the blender. Sometimes I found the tamper on the blender annoying , so the food processor allowed me to made tofu spread, nuts cookie dough and hummus without tamper. I also saved a lot of time cutting veggies for soup and to shred meat (for chicken salad). The only thing I don't like, or maybe I didn't found how to use it properly, is the large pusher. I tough I could use it like the small one, but it's not working when it's not in place. So I have to cut potatoes or other veggies to fit in the small hole to slice it. I tough I could had bigger slice with it. Like put a whole potato under it. (sorry for my english, It's not my first language!)

Good but noisy

Anonymous October 21, 2020

Love it. Very good build quality like everything from Vitamix. The only cons is the noise. Such a noisy appliance. I was happy that the new models have quieter motors, i own a A3500 base but when you use the food processor the noise is unbearable. They never said it in any video review, they always put background music.

Exactly what I needed

globalcookingrurually March 17, 2022

I am VERY happy I ended up with this attachment. I had originally bought the Vitamix blender (2 years ago) with the rumors of the food processor coming soon (2 years prior) in mind. But when the processor attachment came out, the reviews weren't amazing; many said that it doesn't perform as good some other popular brands. So I ended up purchasing a different brand, and yes - I was happy with it's performance, but I couldn't get over the weight of the extra base PLUS the extra storage base required to find a place to keep and move it (it wasd far too heavy to keep in an upper cabinet) as often as I planned to use it. Finally, I decided to try the Vitamix food processor attachment to try it out because my blender is my all-time favourite appliance and the convenience of not having another base to store was very attractive to me... and I am SOOO HAPPY I DID! I love this thing just as much as the blender! As a home cook who prepares meals, snacks, condiments, etc. from scratch at least twice a day, it performs great! The blender base lives on our countertop, so when I need the processor, I simply grab the processor attachment stored in my upper cabinet and swap out the blender and am ready to go (rather than having to pull out another heavy base, move something to find an outlet, etc.)! In response to the negative reviews I read about it not being as good as others for the price: Yes, purchasing the attachment for a very similar price as I could get an entire new appliance for was a hard pill to swallow. And yes, there are a few times (see below for example) when I find uneven/inconsistent peices after pulsing or processing. However, from my research, this is due to the fact that Vitamix is a multi-purpose motor, whereas other processors are designed specifically for processing (not blending). But as a home cook, this is MORE than sufficient for me, its awesome! The only reason I gave it a 4/5 is for the following 2 reasons: 1) The attachment comes with small and large shredding/slicing blades; I don't feel the large is that much larger than the small. But I bought the julienne attachment and it is awesome! 2) The regular processor blade performs great, except for in extra-large (3/4 full) large batches; however, as I mentioned above, I know this is due to the fact the motor (being multipurpose between blenders and the processor,t he "pulse" is not a even, but hardly noticeable in 80% of the tasks). When I try to process 4/5 medium onions together, for example, I do end up with a few larger pieces. But I can always pick these out and quickly chop (or throw in the freezer with veggie scraps to male soup!)

Vitamix Food Processor

Luv My Vitamix May 11, 2022

I recently purchased the 12-cup Food Processor Attachment with Self-Detect from Vitamix. For those of you who love your Vitamix, this would be a very useful addition. Firstly, it's a space saver. Instead of having a separate blender and food processor, this attachment saves valuable storage space. Secondly, it will do all of the chopping and slicing that your current food processor does. It's 12-cup size and large feed tubes allows for efficient usage and clean up is easy. I look forward to exploring all of the various ways that I can use this in the years to come. And, for the Vitamix gearhead in your family, it makes for a great gift!

food processor

Treeoflight February 28, 2023

I bought this to use for chopping and slicing foods, hoping to make my cooking journey shorter and simpler. I found the blades provided were just too thick for what I was looking for and I will have to buy the thinner slicing blades. Another problem I have with it is when I use it to slice things. What I found is that the last few inches of the item would get turned sideways and then instead of say sliced carrots I would have long pieces of carrots in with the short and I would need to take the time to cut them up. I also found that when I was doing cabbage I couldn't do it in long strips I would have to cut the cabbage up small to fit it in the curved hole provided to make it fit and again there were large leaves that just didn't get chopped up. Same with potatoes. If the potato is a large one I have to cut it up and I just find it easier to do on a cutting board then to use the food processor and then clean the food processor. (I have chronic pain and can't stand for too long. 20-30 minutes at a time. Doing a 20 minute recipe tends to take me 2 to 3 times as long as they say and then taking breaks in-between to have a break from the pain). I still haven't learned to use it for other things as I find it more energy consuming to use and clean it then to use some of the other tools in my house. I need to take sometime to explore the ways it can be used so that maybe I can get it to work for me and that I will not have wasted my money. I am disappointed with how it works in those respects. Otherwise it works well to chop and dice foods up quickly, very quickly. I was a little surprised at how fast the machine grabbed things. I didn't have a chance to push the food pusher down it moved so quickly. I learned to just leave the food pusher sitting on top of the veggies and not bother to hold it.

One less appliance base on the counter!

soomommy November 27, 2020

It's been a couple months since I purchased the food processor. I've made pumpkin pie filling in it from fresh pumpkins and grated mozzarella cheese (there were balls left on top of the grater and jammed into two areas on the lid). It is powerful and does the job, though the sticky mozzarella balled up a bit. I would still recommend it as I am thrilled to have removed one appliance base from my counter, but I hope Vitamix will read this and do something about this cheese issue... I am frustrated with how finicky the base is about acknowledging the different attachments though... I have the cups, bowls, food processor, and blender.

Very fast and powerful, a little clunky

SSeres November 9, 2020

Got my food processor attachment last month and have used it once a week. Cliches and shreds so fast, but a bit tricky to figure out how to feed larger items e.g. 1/8th of a cabbage for slaw. Shredded apples and had a big chunk w peel left on the top. Would love a plastic main blade to mix dough. Not bad but not as good as my 35 yr old Moulinex was.

Love/Hate relationships

FlyingDutch September 1, 2023

I do love idea of space saver - one very powerful motor is awesome and it is warranted for 7 or even 10 years. It is super powerful, which is also awesome. Now the hate parts: 1. The plastic leaks into food, and it is a design issue. In theory that universal blade looking like propeller rotated by the metal piece from motor. In practice, the black plastic touches the bottom of the container, and you can see how the bottom of the black plastic is eaten tiny bit after each use, and the clear container gets black plastic deposits. I would imagine some of it ends up in the food. I love Vitamix, and recommend it to everyone, but this design needs to be fixed. On a sad side there are very few attachments, and they are super expensive. Some competitors offer way more for fraction of cost - with Vitamix I pay the higher price and can't get what I have with cheaper brands? I respect Vitamix right to put any price on the product, but at least give people more of a product. And one more thing, is there is no variable speed for the Food Processor.

Naveen November 26, 2020

I am a big fan of Vitamix. I have got all their attachments till date. I was one of the first one to purchase the food processor. I was very excited to get it. But one of the grinder blades has got damaged. The pieces from the grinder has come out. I have hardly used the new product. Not a Vitamix I have got to know.
