This is great for removing pastes from the base of the blender. It is not super easy to use, but I cannot imagine how it could be designed much better. The most difficult part for me is remembering to go opposite to the blade directionality. I'm guessing a handful of the negative reviews come from people pushing into the super sharp blades and wrecking the rubber.
I've had this scraper for about a month! I'm using it with the classic taller containers and it's helped so much. I used to feel horrible about leaving so much food under the blades that I was unable to pour out. It doesn't get all of the food out but I definitely am not wasting as much as before. Probably just takes a bit of finesse to work it around the blades
I like to use my Vitamix when I make pea soup with carrots, celery, onions, whole herbs, etc., i.e., lots of chunky stuff. I also like not having to put the hot cooked peas and other veggies through a sieve to puree them. The Vitamix easily makes all the hot ingredients really smooth and creamy. However, since the resulting soup is thick, it doesn't totally empty out of the container by itself. To the rescue - the Under Blade Scraper that doesn't miss a delicious drop! I love the way it cleans around the blades.
I've owned a Vitamix for 7 years. The motor died on my first one and I replaced it 3 years ago with the short canister model. I was always annoyed with how much of whatever I was making was left stuck under the blades. This blade scraper is EXACTLY what I needed! I get EVERYTHING out now!
I have had VitaMix machine, in one configuration or another, since the late 70's! The first one had the metal canister with a spigot on the side of it. My current VitaMix was purchased in around 97' which makes this one over 20 years old and it is still going strong. After all those years it was a problem getting the remains of anything, except liquid, out of the bottom of the mixing container. Not any more! The Blade Scraper is the easiest to use device to help clear what is left on the bottom and off the blades.
So So for scraping under the blade. It's a difficult place. It is however great for scraping the sides as it is not too wide to fit the shape of the sides and it is shaped nicely for removing the contents rather than moving them round and round the the interior.
This scraper is helpful yes. Will it last long? Probably not. I read the reviews before purchasing and now that i've used it once I'm just wondering if this is the BEST that Vitamix has to offer? It is constructed of a soft silicone type material that will in no doubt be cut by the very blade it intends to clean under. You have to gingerly maneuver this scraper as not to damage it. I thought it would be a time saver allowing me to clear out those hard to reach food remnants but i'm more concerned about getting chunks of plastic in my remains. I honestly don't know if the tool is worth it and how long it will last.
We love the design and had one before, but this new one is already breaking off at the end. The plastic is too thin and it won't last very long. Needs to be redesigned.
Not putting full blame on the Scraper, but, I am not having much success in using it. Lol! Rather comical for me because it shouldn't be this hard. Doesn't seem to want to get underneath the blades and close enough to the joint to scrape any food particles that may be trapped. Looking for a tutorial. Lol! Very sturdy though. Would like the blade to be a little smaller or thinner to fit better under the blades and get into the groove of the joint under the blade.
This product seems great in theory. But before i had unpackaged it, the silicone coating had separated at the base. It isn't constructed in a durable manner.
