VIVOSUN Outdoor Tumbling Composter Dual Rotating Batch Compost Bin, 43 Gallon Black Door

Just purchased this and was daunted by the reviews that said this was difficult to put together. This was EASY to put together. My package included a packing list and step-by-step, both with helpful diagrams. The other helpful feature of the parts was it seemed there was only one way the pieces would easily screw together. This is so helpful. I had a tough time imagining 43 gallon size--about the size of a tall kitchen garbage bag. Once I trimmed the shrubs in our backyard and prepped some veg for dinner, I was glad to have filled (not stuffed) half of the bin. I trim that much yard greenery every two-three months. So the bin sides will have to get busy. Should be about right, time will tell.

The Vivosun rotating compost bin seems quite sturdy. Glad I purchased a 43 gal rather than a smaller unit. My husband is very handy and assembled it in approx. 1 hour but remarked that the instructions were "for $h!t." I weekly (52 times annually) completely fill and wheel out to the curb for City pickup a huge compose bin with yard debris so am excited to start composting some of it for use on my own large yard & garden.

This tumbler is great. Easy to build, durable, huge capacity. My only criticism is that, like all tumblers, it's prone to developing the dreaded compost clumps -- slimy balls of decomposed material that won't break down to useful compost. This tends to come from adding too many greens. I recommend starting your pile with pine pellets or wood shavings to be sure you have a strong foundation of browns before adding kitchen scraps.

Whoever said this thing only took 20 minutes to assemble must be on crack because it took me about two hours. 56 screws and nuts! I didn’t have any issues assembling but it was VERY time consuming. Worth it though, this composter is gorgeous and sturdy. Can’t wait to start using it.

I’m very happy with this composter. I’ll be honest, I didn’t build it. My partner did while I worked in the yard. I’d say it took him at least an hour and he didn’t seem to enjoy doing it but it got done and it’s a super good composter now. I stuck it in a sunny spot in the backyard. I gather kitchen scraps in a bin and when it’s full, I bring it outside and pour the scraps in, then I add some leaves from the bottom of my leaf pile. I rake every day and I tend to leave a big pile of leaves on one part of my lawn. The bottom breaks down some and I use that in the composter. But I’ve also used the leaves on the top. I spin the composter around and the stuff inside breaks down rather quickly. It’s fun to see how much softer it gets between my trips to empty the full kitchen scrap bin. There is no odor. I have not added any water. That hasn’t seemed necessary. We’re vegan, all our scraps are fruit, veggies, the occasional grain maybe. It’s really fun to make my own compost, I’ve always wanted to and I finally live somewhere that I can. There’s tons of space inside of it, I wonder how long it will take to fill even one side. I live in Northern California, it stays mild here.

It was a beast to assemble. The “instructions” were half a dozen pictures, nothing else. Really struggled until my “logical” thinking sweetheart got tired of watching me take apart panels I shouldn’t have had to if the instructions had been just a little bit more clear. Finally got it together and have to say we both love it. Now to see if it will work as described.

Easy to put together I usually stay away from assembly required and didn’t realize this needed it lol. But if I can do it you can too, I would recommend two people at the beginning but with patience one person can do. Light and easy to move before filling. Highly recommend

Yes, this is challenging to assemble but once you figure out the design its just easier with 2 people. My only complaint is the rust that can form fairly quick so I'd recommend having it off the grass/ground. This is exactly what I expected and its working out well for us.

So far so good. Have had for about a month and still doing well. It is smaller than expected but still performs well. Definitely took an hour to put together, but easy to do, just tedious and time consuming. For the price, I thought it would be bigger.

I am going to return this, I have put together multiple items but this is terrible. Nothing is lining up and the instructions are terrible. If you move it to line up with a different hole then it messes up the rest of the assembly, poorly made.
