We ordered this TV during the Pre Black Friday sale. It showed a delivery date (to our home) about 2 weeks away. We could live with that. Amazingly enough it showed up early the next week! I was amazed at how quickly it came. The TV has great color and clarity and was easy to set up. Haven't figured out the smart/cast part of it yet but we'all figure that out soon.
The TV is great it pretty much set it's self up and the picture is absolutely beautiful, but I don't like the remote you have to use the remote on your smartphone or tablet to get other features on the remote and there are time when the batteries die on your phone or tablet or you miss place them or you Internet maybe having problems... I would have rather had all the functions on the original tv remote. Hopefully that will change in the future.
The tv is clear and does everything as advertised. The chromecast option was awkward at first but now any phone or laptop in the house can promote content to the tv for streaming. This is a lot better then having the apps on the tv itself for me.
I was able to try out this TV in person with the help of a Vizio sales person help and am submitting this review as part of a contest. I saw this TV as part of the full collection and in comparison to the other sizes. We have a slightly smaller tv at home and the 55" is probably the biggest size I would go for a small SF apartment living room, plus the picture quality is insane so you are getting a better experience. The built in wifi is probably the best part where you can stream from your phone with mobile apps and essentially use your phone as a remote. There is a compatible app that works with the tv and it works with the other apps you have. There was a review that noted that they wish they had known programs like Netflix needed to be streamed from your phone. This is not a smart TV itself but you also don't need a separate smart player like a currently have. It makes having so many remotes or devices around the tv less of an issue and helps keep up a clean space!
Great TV so far! Set up was easy and the unit itself if light enough to be moved by one person. Only complaint is that there are no built-in apps(Netflix ect)
Thought it was a smart tv. It's not it's smart cast. Very different. But works awesome. Pictures great
Customers should know that the "smart" tv does not have the ability to actually download any applications to the television itself. Everything is "cast" from a device that is compatible with the Vizio app. If your phone/tablet is older and is not able to download the app from the google play store or itunes, then you are out of luck to have Netflix or any other app onto the tv. If you don't replace your phone or tablet every other year or so then your option is to buy a kindle fire stick and download the app to the fire stick. This is the cheapest option I can think of. In short, I wish I realized this beforehand. Delivery took much longer than the tracking initially indicated ( a week or so later it showed up).
Very little instruction remote is not helpful with setup. Just too much to figure out on your own
TV freezes once a day and remote doesn't work. Remote is done through an app that isn't available on certain Android versions so if you don't have a phone that's a couple of years old you cannot use the remote app. So you cannot use Vizio cast and have to use Google Cast and you cannot control the picture controls on the TV. Provide a remote that allows you to control the quality of your TV picture without regard to how old your cell phone is.
Instructions for set up were vague. The tv wouldn't download software updates even with strong wifi signal. Visio tech support said that happens and that I would need to buy a memory stick and download/transfer the software manually. I took it back and returned it for a refund. I shouldn't have to torture myself setting up a brand new tv.
