Great picture quality and gaming engine

PigeonToady May 3, 2021

I love the picture quality and gaming engine that is the reason why I got this TV in the first place. The gaming engine allows me to play Xbox one games on live faster. Comes with tons of apps to choose from. I spent the first two hours after setting it up looking at all the cool stuff. It is very easy to set up. Do you still watch antenna TV like me I will give you a hint on the remote control. As you can see there are no numerical buttons. So that leaves you the option of turning the channels either up or down. Here is the secret because modern technology does not give out handbooks anymore. Click on the enter button while watching antenna TV and a numerical keypad will pop up on the screen allowing you to choose the channel you want easier. If you do not know where the enter button is you are a dinosaur it is the middle circular button surrounded by four buttons that go up down left and right. Hope this helps you!

Review for M556Q

Maggy May 3, 2021

Television arrived perfect, it was packaged very nicely. It recommends 2 people to unpack, I was able to do it myself, carefully. Setup was virtually automatic. It found my wifi even though I placed it in a almost bunker type location in my basement. Picture is amazing, sound is excellent.

Beautiful Telly

I am in awe of my new Vizio 55 inch 4K UHD Quantum Smart Cast Smart TV! I have another old clunky Vizio that we still use daily so I know they last forever, and I was more than happy to get another, more updated Vizio! I am so enjoying every thing about this television. The fact that I can just speak into the remote control is major to me and it works with most voice assistants. There are so many built in apps, pretty much every streaming service you might need. It also comes with free streaming channels which is great for those who cannot or do not subscribe to streaming services. The television easily connects to your phone or other devices so you can share your photos or videos with no problem. The colors on this thing are amazing! It is 4k so it looks as if every thing is actually happening right before your eyes. It is pretty trippy to see how beautiful the images on this television become. This is a fabulous gaming television for those reasons. I honestly do not care for the automatic updates as I prefer to do things like that myself on my time, but that is the only negative that I can think of. As always, Vizio is high quality at a wonderful and affordable price.

Great picture and no sound bar needed!

Cassie May 10, 2021

We have this TV wall mounted in our guest bedroom. We normally purchase a different, also well-known brand of TV, but were anxious to try this one when we were offered it for free in exchange for our honest review. My husband and I are both TV junkies and have paid a LOT for televisions, sound bars, projectors for our media room, etc. This Vizio 55 inch TV has impressed us both. The picture is every bit as good as our others throughout the house. They've gone to the small details to make getting it out of the box and setting it up super easy. The big positive for me is that the speakers are on the bottom of the TV, which is so much better than having them on the back. LOTS of volume and control, and the remote can also be voice controlled, which is great for many reasons (thinking about my Grandmother who can much more easily tell the remote what she needs instead of finding the correct button). The onscreen instructions make it clear and easy to setup and connect to the internet. We were up and running in just a couple of minutes. We were able to use our existing wall mount and hardware without any issues at all. The only word of advice I'd give is to be mindful of how high the mount is. Measure carefully before mounting as the bracket fits pretty low on the TV, which makes it mount higher on the bracket...meaning the TV is higher on the wall. We replaced a 47 inch TV and the 55 is just an inch or so away from the ceiling. It still looks fine (see photo), but wanted to be sure to call that out. Overall, we are SUPER impressed by this TV and will definitely consider a Vizio when the time comes to purchase in the future!

Very good TV. Excellent picture quality. A

Omar December 18, 2022

I was undecided between this model, and the more economical V version of this TV being offered for sale at Walmart. By the time I finally made up my mind the price difference between the two warranted springing for this one, and I'm very glad I did. The image quality is excellent. I was afraid that the 65-inch screen would introduce undesirable 720p content upscaling since most of my collection is still DVD's, but it does a good job. The TV includes picture settings for reducing artifacts and distortion which helps. The TV comes to life with 1080p and 4k content. I tested both and it looks amazing. This is a "smart" TV so it includes an alphabet-soup assortment of streaming apps. YouTube TV app is included, which works well with my monthly pay subscription. The app fires right up, and works like one would expect. Vizio WatchFree is also preloaded on the TV. The channel selection is much more than I would expect for something free, though there are ads pushed down your throat. I purchased a VESA-compliant fixed wall mount separately for this TV, which worked out perfectly. The back of the TV flexes a little more than I'm comfortable with for hanging it on the wall. It hasn't fallen off yet, and I hope to never update this review stating otherwise. I spent $498 for this TV, which is a fine choice for my expectations. It does not disappoint at all.

Lives Up to the Claims, Plus Free Channels!

MelissaSueS May 4, 2021

This review is for the Vizio M Series Quantum 55” television. It’s a 4k television with Dolby vision and Quantum color. It comes preloaded with a good number of apps and has built in Chromecast & works with “Hey Google.” It also says it includes hundreds of Free Streaming Channels and I can verify there are a lot including Ion, NFL, Reelz, Hallmark Movies etc. I couldn’t get to the set-up guide (it’s online) as the link and QR code didn’t work but if you have ever set up a newer television it honestly isn’t needed anyway to attach the feet, plug in the cable and turn on the TV which walks you through everything on screen anyway. The rest can be figured out by exploring. The real challenge came with setting up Wi-Fi. It literally took me 47 minutes. I tried to set it up directly to my router 2.4 and 5 and my extender at 2.4 and 5. My phone was sitting right next to the television & was connected to Wi-Fi so I’m not sure what the problem was but thankfully it connected. To be fair, I do sometimes have connection issues so I suppose it could have been my internet. Without Wi-Fi, I could not get the TV to work even when I opted to skip Wi-Fi setup. Also, without accepting Vizio and Googles terms/conditions you can’t use any of the streaming services. There is no opting out. You accept or don’t use it. Once I had WIFI connected I could get to the home screen. It took me a bit to figure out how to get to my cable without the set-up guide, go to input and check the correct HDMI port. Right out of the box the colors were a bit dull so I adjusted the picture settings & WOW programs are crystal clear with bright, vibrant colors. While the picture and colors are great, what I like best about this television are the audio options. I need hearing aids and when noisy scenes and music are playing during dialog, I typically can’t hear what is being said no matter how loud I turn up the sound. While this TV has a lot of digital audio features, I love the dialogue enhancer which you can set to low, medium or high to help clarify the voice when characters are speaking. It doesn’t replace hearing aids but it does help me hear the dialog better. Volume leveling, which doesn’t always work, works well on this TV! What I have never seen on a TV is lip sync and funny enough I wish I had this in the past. If the lip sync setting works it’s brilliant. If watching a show where the sound track is off from the image it syncs them. I have had this happen more than once when watching streaming shows and it’s so annoying. The remote has a voice option which is handy and it streams video and movies really well. The one thing I wish it had was a lighted remote as it is impossible to see the buttons at night when the room is dark. I am not a gamer but would guess this would be ideal for them due to the V gaming engine, IQ active processor, and the variable refresh rate. There are plenty of connection ports. 3 HDMI including one eARC dedicated sound bar connection, two other general HDMI, and one USB 2.0(900 mA). There are is also an optical audio out, one ethernet, two component ports for left and right audio and one for video. Finally, there is an antenna connection and the TV does scan during set up for local channels. I have only had this TV for two days so I have not been using it for very long but so far, I really like it!

DEMAND ESPN APP!

Xman74135 March 29, 2023

the tv is actually darn good, great pic, great price, i owned a couple vizios back in the day, my decision was between the sony w google tv and vizio w smartcast, ive turned 100% streaming, smartcast is awesome, BUT I MADE A MISTAKE! IF YOU ARE A STREAMING SPORTS BUFF LIKE ME, DO NOT BUY VIZIO! I ASSUMED EVERY TV PLATFORM HAD AN ESPN APP, NO!!!! VIZIO DOES NOT I STREAM ESPN THROUGH ESPN APP WHICH VIZIO WILL NOT OFFER! PERIOD! i should have taken another star off instead of just one, i love college sports, what a disappointment, maybe vizio will read this AND realize im doing as i said i was going to do! i have tried over 5 times in 5 months to get the app offered, it has fallen on deaf ears! im buying another big screen for my bedromm, replacing a 48" sony 1080, BUY A SONY IF YOU ARE A SPORTS FAN! if you arent, grab one of these mq-6 quality build, plenty of free stuff, all my other apps hbomax, paramount ,disney , hulu run seamless without any problems "pro reviewers" say about its quirkyness are crazy! i use ethernet (i disdain wifi) and arc to a powerful denon 7.2 home theater, with that said, i blast my music from spotify and you tube, and denon does the work on the sound all the tv does is return the channel and feed it thru the hdmi! so ez its scary! and unfortunately i get friends i really dont need, its a pyramid scheme a friend brings a friend to listen and see my system! go figure! love you all happy viewing

Beautiful Picture

Mitch May 6, 2021

Amazing picture, Very clear and no drag during motion. The sound quality is also very good. Set up was pretty painless. The only drawback to the setup was the channel search, it seems to take forever. I can't seem to get the voice remote to work. It just tells me it can't understand what I'm saying, but it gives me the same message if I say nothing after pressing the button. I'm going to have to contact customer service to see if they can help or maybe I have a bad remote. I don't really care that much about the voice remote, it was not a selling feature for me. We use Rokus on our other TVs, so when you add a new Roku device it automatically populates the apps we use from our account. This is not connected like that, so we have to add all the apps that you use individually. The simplest way would be just to continue using the Roku but I wanted to clean up the area and get rid of some wires. I will probably go back to the Roku just for simplicity. Overall I'm very happy with the TV. I was surprised at how little it weighs. This TV is 15 inches larger than the last TV I had and it weighs half as much.

Bad home TV-only for streaming or as a office unit

OrganizedChaos May 5, 2021

There are only two "pros" I can say about this TV. 1. It has a nice color scheme. It specially shows up with skin tones on people. it also creates a eye-pleasing warmness. But the white seems little dirty may be because of that. 2. There is a good list of free streaming channels available. But other than that I cannot find anything I like. The TV is extremely unfriendly to use with a antenna. If you like to receive Over-The-Air channels that are free, it is very difficult to use. I have another Samsung mid-range TV, it would shows a channel schedule for those OTA channels like with cable channels (it is easy get over internet) But this wouldn't even show the name of the current show of the current channel (which is broadcasted with the channel without internet). Even a Vizio TV that is 6 years old can show that information. Without that you cannot organize OTA channels to a Favorite group, so you are stuck with browsing through bunch of unwanted channels. Also the only way to go through channels is to press up-down arrows. What a pain. Also there is no "App-Store". there is no way to add or remove apps. Another really annoying and user unfriendly feature is the remote doesn't has a channel button. It only has a volume button. Who designed this abomination?
