A Real Game Changer

James300 March 20, 2025

I bought fire brick from my local Northern Tool store. As a “Do It Yourself” enthusiast and a props builder for several theater companies, I usually search out items already made to repurpose for use on stage. I am now solving several problems by melting down aluminum and pouring molds to create an army of Roman Soldiers or fantasy armor. It will be light weight and easily replaceable. A real game changer!

Woodstove must have

Dude December 5, 2025

We are loyal Northern Tool shoppers when we are in the Greensboro, NC area about 45 miles fry our home but the closest one to us. Our firebrick purchase was made with ease & the cashier was fried & professional.

must have for a barrel stove

woodburner47 August 20, 2012

One downside to a barrel stove is that, while barrels are cheap, they need to be replaced periodically. Why? Open flame oxidizes steel. It does not oxidize cast iron. That's why cast iron is the preferred material in wood stoves. Factory steel wood stoves are lined with firebrick to keep flame away from the steel. Their walls are made from thicker steel than you will find in even a heavy steel drum. Barrel stoves should be lined on the bottom and ends with fire brick as well. That is not to say that you shouldn't use a grate on top of the firebrick. A grate will hold the fire above the ash and improve combustion. That is a different issue. Firebrick is there to protect the steel. Your barrel will last longer and you will expose the floor and walls around the stove to less heat. This product is a must in any barrel stove.

High Quality Firebrick

Georgen2 October 14, 2012

I have a 30 year old Pillsbury "Cardinal" airtight woodstove with the original firebrick that was badly cracked and crumbling. After cleaning out the old pieces, the new firebrick from Northern fit perfectly... it was the exact dimensions of the old brick. By the way, the shipment of firebrick arrived in great shape, with NO cracks or damage. Great Job, and I highly recommend this product!

Great product.

Richard37 December 15, 2018

I needed to set up protection for my drill press while I used it as a work bench to welding up a tool rest for my 3 HP wood lathe. These fire bricks did a fine job. I use only 4 not the 6 in the box and laid two in one direction then two more at a 90° rotation to the first two. After brazing the tool post to my offset tool rest, with my gas rig the fire brick looked practically un-used. They are now back in the box for storage until next time.

Firebrick quality

AandP November 8, 2019

These firebricks are exactly like the OEM firebrick that came with my Quadra Fire Step-Top stove. They cut well for custom placement, and drill out easily (using a 11/4 inch. diamond edge hole saw) for the back-of- stove air tubes. So pleased with the quality that I bought 4 more boxes for the eventual complete firebox rebuild. I figure I'll save over $200.

Great about it

Wilibmean January 15, 2018

easy to place in woodstove, bought the first ones 2007, so they last quite a while. In another 10 years I will most certainly purchase them again from this company. Fast delivery, got them a few days earlier.

replaced fire bricks in my wood burning stove to get ready for winter freeze. Box of 3 replaced all the bricks and fit great. Using the wood stove today with no problems.

Vogelzang 6-Pk. of Firebrick, Model# FB-01

Ronx November 15, 2010

The firebrick in my aged wood stove had broken up and fallen out of the firebox. I replace the brick with the Vogelzang Firebrick and now the stove firebox is good as new. Good product.
