Small, well-built, heavy little fan. Just a bit pricey when compared to other fans or I would have given it a 5 on value. I keep feeling "Big Fan" air movement, but when I look this little fan is just sitting on the floor quietly causing a big breeze. It is angled so putting it on the floor means the air hits you in the face if you are sitting about 10 feet away from the fan. Because it is slightly angled upward when you do put it on the floor it does stir the air up nicely in a medium sized room of about 16ft by 11ft. I find that I have to turn it down while working at my desk because it works so well I feel cold. On low it still moves a surprising amount of air silently. Because it is only 10 inches high it fits well in the smallest of windows.
fancy name for fan. Works well, quiet on the lower settings, high is a bit noisy if you're trying to sleep. Keeps the room nice and cool after working for 10-15 minutes to get the air going. It doesn't work very well on a really hot day, but it will cool down the room a bit. For the price, it's a great little machine.
This is my fourth vornado-- no they don't break, I lose them to the "kids" when they leave home. We use the larger stand model for the exercise area, but this one is perfect for the family room!
I own a couple of Vornado fans and love them. They cool a room down without having to sit in front of the fan. I don't like a fan to blow directly on me.
This will be used in case of emergencies such as hurricanes, power outages, etc... I did try it to see and really like the amount of air it pushes. Worth the price we pay and will use very little battery life to power.
I have had this Vornado panel air circulator about a week. It does rather a good job in my small, Baltimore, MD home. We have been having a heat spell here with lots of humidity (a bit unusual for late-May). This fan keeps whatever room it is in bearable. Almost pleasant, even, and I would recommend it to a friend.
I bought this as a replacement for the same fan which died after way more than the 5 years warranty. It is super quiet, whirls the air around in such a way as to cool better than other larger fans. I used to hold dances and take this along because the big industrial fan just made a rocket over the music.
Almost a month since purchase, and the product has been working totally fine with us; overall a satisfactory performance: + No sudden breakdowns upon operation (yet) + Lightweight and simple operation + Powerful for its size (can feel the air circulate up to approx. 5m (~15ft) at weakest power Lv.) + Smart idea with the replaceable fuse However, best to keep expectations moderated, +/- Size may matter, this model may be for small rooms (small bedrooms, bathrooms, etc); consider a larger size model for use in larger spaces (kitchens, living rooms, etc) - Depending on individuals, silicon feet on its corners may not stand equally - May not be fit to operate in situations that values silence - Wish it had a handle for easy transportation Conclusion: a good room circulator as it claims to be, just moderate your expectations and let the product live up to what it's made for.
Imagine my surprise when not 2 years into owning this, the motor squeals like a banshee and the blades turn fast then slow.... I have cleaned it, and oiled the blade shaft and to no avail. This I expect from a lesser model fan, and have had this happen to them, but a Vornado? If you only want a year of use out of it, then just expect a year or so use. It WAS quiet and efficient when it was new.
Vornado - the name in fans...has turned out to be a great disappointment and 3x the cost of equivalents. First problem the plug wires break internally at the entrance to the plug(not a fuse problem), so I had to cut out the old plug and buy another one to reattach. Second is the fan blad/motor becomes very noisy - rattles; not all the time but at random times and noisy enough to distrupt tv. Third I discovered when removing the grill for cleaning (disconnect power cord first). The motor stays very very very hot for a long time. I bought a fan to cool not double as a long term heater..... You dont feel this from the air but it means electricity is being wasted in the form of heat, and a hot electric motor is not a good sign. So they may have some valid marketing hype regarding the way the air circulates but there are other significant and repeatable design quality issues - see youtube for more.
