The vortex hunter ring is an affordable ring made for hunting, not target work and I use them a lot on non-magnum calibers. Never had a problem with one or had to lap it for good ring fit.
good set of rings for my 22lr plinker scope

Good fit and height for my ar very pleased
Very good quality! The company was great to work with.
Recently I acquired a new rifle scope intended for my Thompson Center Compass .308. The scope being replaced has a 1" diameter tube. The new scope has 30mm diameter tube, so larger diameter mounting rings are necessary. The rifle has a short section of picatinny on each end of the receiver with a lone slot for mounting the scope rings. Installation was fairly straightforward. Separate the rings upper half from the lower. Press the bottom half of the lower ring down a forward towards the muzzle of the rifle and secure the thumb screws. Using my mounting vise, the rifle is leveled for/aft and from side to side. Place the new scope in the lower ring halves and check for level of the scope. Adjust the scope for proper eye relief and install the upper ring halves with the mounting screws. Tighten the screws evenly until snug. I used my torque screwdriver and finished tightening the screws to the recommended amount of torque. Final adjustment requires the use of a bore sight tool. Now take it to the range for fine tuning the elevation and windage knobs. Don't forget the parallax adjustment knob. The Vortex ring mounts fit well. I was a bit concerned about the mounts only have single securement screws each, but this isn't a magnum caliber, so it should be fine. After sighting in the new scope, it should be evident if the scope rings are secure. If I witness any movement I'll know if I should have gotten rings with dual securement screws. The installation took about 30 minutes and was easily accomplished with the tools I had. Setting up the gun vise took longer than anything else. I won't know if this setup is "on target" until I get to the range with some open tip match ammo, but the rifle was a tack driver with the old scope, so I feel confident this new scope will perform even better.
