VTech Digital Audio Monitor with Night Light (DM221)

I am taking care of my 89 year old Mother. I have cameras everywhere to make my life easier. However, I do not want a camera in the bathroom. This is PERFECT in the bathroom. I can hear when she flushes the toilet and if she needs me and calls for me, I can hear her even if I am upstairs. You have no idea the peace of mind this gives me. It has a two way speaker so I can talk to her and tell her I am on my way to help her. This eases her mind as well. You just never know when someone with dementia might be sitting on a trash can instead of a toilet and can not get up!! That is what prompted me to put this in the bathroom.

I am a caregiver to my handicap soft spoken senior mother and needed this monitor for when she needs me. This monitor speaker is very sensitive and catches her every call to me. I like the vibration option. If I'm outside doing gardening the vibration option informs me of her calls. I like how the lights flash with sound. When I'm in my room watching a loud action movie late at night I put the monitor in front of the television so I can see when she calls me. I like the "talk" option so I can tell her I hear her and I'm on my way. It has a good range, is light weight and clips on my waistband to carry with me around the house. I never mis her call for me.

This product exceeds my expectations the talk back button is a great feature. You will be pleased with this unit I recommend it. I don't have a baby but I take care of a sick person and now we can talk without shouting and me running To hear what she says or needs. I recommend this highly. And very affordable. Works great.

This provided and easy option for a problem other than monitering a baby. I cannot hear our doorbell in our bedroom, which is important since I sleep in the daytime, so I plugged in the "baby" part of the device, placed it on top of my existing door chime (the electric cord is long enough), then I plugged in the "parent" moniter near my bed. When I'm ready for sleep, I just turn it on and it works like a charm!

I use the monitor for situations when I am in another part of the house or in the garage or yard close to the house, away from my wife who is an invalid. It works very well for my purpose. The only negative I would have is that the 1,000 foot range would probaly only apply to completely open spaces, but the range is good enough for my use. The belt clip is a little awkward to use, but it wnn't slip off.

I am in love with these monitors! Not only were they some of the cheapest ones I found online, but they have the "parent talk back" feature, which was really important to me. I had been using some older monitors to listen to my two daughters (ages 3 and 7) at night, in case they needed something. Those monitors had tons of static, but I had gotten used to it, and it wasn't a problem. Then, I ordered these - with the intention to use them for the girls (because of the awesome talk-back feature), and use the old monitors for the new baby- and I love them so much I may have to order another set for the new baby! There is NO static whatsoever on the parent's monitor. NONE! The screen isn't bright and shining in my eyes all night. The screen shows the word "linked" to indicate that it is linked up with the child's monitor. I can hear everything that is going on in the girls' room, which is clear across the house - I can even hear both girls breathing on it (one girl is on a top bunk, one on bottom, I have the monitor on a shelf level with the top bunk)! My favorite thing about them, of course, is the "parent talk back" feature. There's a button on the side of the parent's monitor that I push and hold down while speaking into/at the monitor to the girls, then I release the button when I'm done talking and I can hear them again (I can't hear the while pushing the button down - it's like walkie-talkies). The girls can hear my voice anywhere in their room, and even into the hallway outside their room. I am looking forward to using this feature to wake up my seven-year-old in the mornings for school while I'm taking care of the new baby. Business not baby - This was product was ordered to be used as a monitor to hear a high humidity alert in a datacenter that no one can hear unless walking by. It's important to keep the computers running and aware of any alarms. This was an inexpensive solution that works out great. It was delivered to a proud childless dad and he gets teased daily about his baby monitor!! :) :) :)

using it for a safety device, my mother is sick and needs help getting out of bed etc. this allows me some freedom cause I'm not confined to the house there a area around the house that I can get out to do jobs I haven't been able. now I can just hear her on the monitor and I don't have to stay in the house within ear s length

I have the monitor on the highest sensitivity, and the highest volume, and I STILL have to be sitting right next to the monitor, QUIETLY, in order to hear anything going on in the room. The baby's monitor is also within about 3 feet of where she is laying, so that's not the problem either. Before my old monitor broke (and it was a CHEAP model), I could plug it in, and zip around the room, or even into another room, working and even having my 6 year old jabbering at me, and I was still able to hear even small movements of my baby. This monitor doesn't do that, and I've tried a few others, too, that I'm not happy with, which is about the only reason why I'm probably sticking with this one. The biggest plus I see, so far, is the rechargable battery, which so far, works wonderfully.

We are returning this. Our room is right across the hall from the baby's room but we purchased this so that we could close the doors during the winter so we didn't have a draft from the hallway. The Vtech monitor barely picks up across the hall with 2 doors closed!!! It keeps losing signal and doesn't beep to tell you so you have to turn it off then back on for it to "link" again. I would not recommend.
