The ability to change the bolts and amps is exactly what I was looking for. This comes in great for everything from children's toys to automotive testing as I'm doing right now with my atv. With a. turn of a knob I'm able to test bulbs and electric motors all at a twist of a knob and the included alligator clips are a nice plus and made well. It's small so it won't take up much space on my bench either. Instructions were clear and written well.

I bought this thing hoping to finally have a lab-grade power supply that would behave like a polite butler-quiet, precise, and never overstep its bounds. What I got was more like an overenthusiastic toddler with a permanent charge. The moment you flip the main switch, the unit erupts with a voltage surge that could resurrect a dead toaster. I tried to connect it to my trusty LED strip, and within a heartbeat the strip smoked like it had just seen a ghost. The inrush voltage is so aggressive that you have to treat the output like a wild horse-only release it once the beast has calmed down. The construction feels solid, with a metal chassis that screams "I mean business" while the internal components look like they were assembled by a team of meticulous engineers. The four-digit LED display, however, is the only thing that behaves itself. It shows the set voltage and current with the kind of precision that makes you trust it-until you remember the output is basically a firecracker on startup. I discovered that other models in this family come with an "OUT" button that lets you arm the output after the unit has settled. Those versions are practically the same price, which makes me wonder if the manufacturer decided to throw the button away for fun. If they had added that safety feature, or at least tamed the inrush, this would be a stellar piece of kit. In short, if you enjoy living on the edge and have a spare fuse box to sacrifice, go ahead and plug this in. Otherwise, skip it and hunt down a version with an output lock. My advice: treat this thing like a dragon-only unleash its fire when you are absolutely sure the castle walls are reinforced.
