War of the Worlds (DVD)

I always love love ordering vids online from Wal-Mart. The deals are excellent as always, and I don't have the hassle of going to town as I live in a rural area. Makes replacing the oops's from the kids much easier, and turns the aggravation level from "accidents" to zero. Thanks Wal-Mart!

just what I wanted

I have read the original novel by H. G. Wells at least four times, considering it the seminal story of interplanetary warfare. Wells demonstrated that he was a science fiction writer of the first magnitude, portraying a human victory at great cost. I have also watched the movie starring Gene Barry several times, it was an incredible special effects marvel for the time. The Martian warships looked menacing, and their action of their weaponry was believable. This version of the classic tale is a worthy addition to the saga of the original Wells story. The acting is superb and of course the special effects are dazzling. The human interest of a man that was not much of a father transporting his children through dangers both Martian and human made this a great human tale. Some of the scenes, such as the burning train and Humvee are classic war scenes adapted to the fight with the Martians. However, nothing can top the clothes falling from the sky. This is a great movie, a worthy extension of one of the best science fiction stories of all time.

Great movie

I ordered this DVD because I am a War of the Worlds "groupie". I still like the first one the best, but on a second viewing of this film, it isn't so bad. It is actually closer to the book than the first film, in some ways. The book is fabulous. If anyone wants a real sensory experience, listen to Jeff Wayne's musical War of the Worlds with Richard Burton narrating. It is mesmerizing.

Love the price! Vey worth it. I've already seen the movie so I knew it was good. My only criticism is that, since Walmart & VUDU digital are one in the same, all their sales should automatically include a digital code to watch them on VUDU InstaWatch. This would keep customers coming back to Walmart for DVD buying instead of going to their competitors.

Not widescreen. Says widescreen on cover but is full screen on my 65". Dvd much too dark, Bluray would have been a better purchase to keep. Dvd is even darker than "on demand".

your app.said you have thing's at both stores went to both not at either. you have time to send e-mails all day but not keep up your app.that wasting my time,gas,money, wear on car.if i have to be lied to to spend my money there I need to stop wasting money there.
